Some Folks Are Crazy
Post date:

Liner Notes:
Songs like this make me wish I played live again!
I've been working ona final group of 4 tracks for hours now.... I've 2 others left to final tweak before the sun sets on this 5090. 2ish hours. That'll take me to 31 done and dusted from the WK100 project (see my profile notes)
This one again from 5090 2013, 5 weeks after the last one I posted. . (was a very good summer, I guess) and got it's final (?) wax and polish this moment!
Looking for any mix notes, is there's something I've missed here? Help me put this one to bed. Many thanks.
All listens (and from the past few days) will be returned within 24 hours of close of 5090! Looking forward to hearing something other than my own voice! Smile
I hope you enjoy.
Hugs, Wolf.

"Some Folks Are Crazy" by Wolf Kier wk030
copyright Wolf Kier 2013, 2021
Some folks are crazy, baby
Some folks are just plain insane
They'll try to hurt you, baby
They ain't just messin' with your brain
no no no no
An atom bomb can do no wrong
without the laying on of hands
The planet it ain't crazy
craziness belongs to man
Some folks are crazy, baby
Some folks are just plain insane
They'll try to hurt you girl
They ain't just messin' with your brain
Pay no heed to their words
Lend no hand to their deeds
Bring no blood to this water
The trust that lives between
you and me
(instrumental bridge/ solo)
Lightning in the forest will bring a fire
but the forest, baby, will rise again....
Some folks are crazy, baby
Some folks are just plain insane
Let me tell ya...
They'll try to hurt you girl
They ain't just messin' with your brain
Some folks are crazy, baby
Some folks are just plain insane
They'll try to hurt you, baby
They ain't just messin' with your brain

I can't help with the mix, sorry. This feel like something that would be played in a nightclub. It is super cool. The lyrics are interesting, and a bit sinister (and realistic). I love it. Saving it to listen to again later
nice yeah that middle instrumental would be so much fun live and some folks are ya know! sounds ready to me
The drums sound a bit low-fi ( unlike for example the part after 1.08), but I"m sure it works for the song, for the guitar has that low-fi feel too. The returning horn-like sound, for example at 1.51 and 1.54 (halfway 1.51 and 1.52 and halfway 1.54 and 1.55)...I keep thinking for the rest of the song that it arrives a tiny little millisecond too late, consequently. I would certainly enjoy the chaos in the song more if that was 'fixed', for my ears at least.
From 0.33 to 0.34, there's something strange going on, like a cut off hihat. At 3.17 there's a click... Anyway, this is quite the (experi)mental song, I mean musically!
Some beefheart vibes with that guitar for sure. I'm amazed at how well you can match tones with the keys/guitar. I wouldn't mind the guitar amp being pissed off and hissing and humming away at 1.08 being a little more prominent and possibly one big wailing fedback squeal or something, but hey that's just me :D, that's not for everyone. This is a ton of fun, I could of listened to just that guitar pan and bass intro/outro riffs for quite some time.
What to say? This is a pretty cool tune, one that keeps getting better. At first I was drawn in by the kinetic drums and overall vibe. Then, after you'd brought the energy down with that vocal bit before the bridge/solo, you had me completely in your thrall. Great bass and vocal on this one. I love those lines about the atom bomb and the forest. I've hit this impasse where my attempt to say something is inadequate to express my appreciation. I'm still singing the song in my head, though
