Don't look back(the Graveyard Song)
Post date:
Demo:
Liner Notes:
Oops I forgot I wrote this one at the beginning but never posted it when I was going through all my lost papers and lyrics on my music stand and I had to decide whether I wrote it or someone else? I literally had to go look at the tags I put on all my creative writing. Sometimes music just flows
Lyrics:
Don’t look back(Graveyard song)
Verse 1: Here is nothing more than
lives lost and broken dreams
buried six feet deep under
names written pretty on tombstones
Prechorus: what have you done?
my daughter, my son
Chorus: Don’t look back
Don’t turn around
don’t take a second look
and hold your breath.
Verse 2: Here is nothing more than
good intentions and lost moans
buried six feet deep under
Graveyard dirt cold, oh how the wind blows
Prechorus: what have you done?
my daughter, my son
Chorus: Don’t look back
Don’t turn around
don’t take a second look
and hold your breath.
Bridge: Come closer
hear the voices
trees rustle
amongst skull and bones
Chorus: Don’t look back
Don’t turn around
don’t take a second look
and hold your breath.

i like it. starts out (and bridges) with a sort of chromaticism (to my ear), then during the vocals has a more familiar motif.
'what have you done, my daughter my son'... it really starts to tug at the emotional heartstrings....
then the contrast with the lower/quieter passages is given more weight...
be all of that as it may, it really paints a picture... i'm glad you found it to upload it.
I like how that use of the notes gives a creepy feel to the start (the title rings a bell this 50/90) emotion captured. Nice
