Liner Notes:

So a bunch of us have gathered for a zoom call on Tuesday nights (see thread in forum, tues night music club) and earlier tonight the idea of us all doing some sort of skirmish was thought up- the prompt being 'frying pan' and 'ice'.

I unexpectedly came up with.... a love song! I don't usually write many of those, but here it is..

Lyrics:

I thought I’d be going from the frying pan to the fire
But I found the ice
Felt so nice

I thought I’d be going from the rock to the hard place
But I found a space
And saw your face

I had forgotten there’s always an oasis
In every desert
And you are my rhyme, my reason and basis
My guiding spirit

It never rains but then sometimes, it pours
Somehow, I stayed dry
You’re the reason why

I had forgotten there’s always an oasis
In every desert
And you are my rhyme, my reason and basis
My guiding spirit

Oh, this is beautiful, Mike! The first verse sets a nice contrast, really clever!

It's a great feeling when love takes you away from expectations. Now if you did this on your phone, I'm once again in awe of the result. Third verse and harmonica are the standouts for me. Nice little ditty, my man.

love how you managed to make sense of that title! such a happy, upbeat song. some great lines that are a real pleasure to listen to. love the harmonica solo. fantastic phone recording but there seemed to be some volume in and out fading/pumping going on, don't know if that is some processing thing? anyway aside from that the clarity sounds great. nice performance too. you sound happy.

Great play here Mike! I like what you did with this, and is again an inspiration for me. Maybe kazoo instead of harmonica for me (LOL).

Such a sweet take on the prompt which you nailed in the first verse. I like your drum guitar and harmonica demo, too. Nicely done.

I like what you've done with this prompt and how it took you to an unexpected place! It's a very sweet song. I particularly like the "an oasis in every desert" bit.

I'm a sucker for a subverted cliche, and you've made this one sound like a metaphor that's been around forever. Unmistakably a love song, but without any of the tropes. Well done.

Cool and catchy, I like the left turn into a love song. The harmonica is a nice touch too. Well done!
