Liner Notes:

This lyric is about humanity's endless quest to push the envelope and explore new places.

It also ticks off letter 'J' as I attempt to write lyrics that start with each letter of the alphabet this calendar year. Just K, Q, U, X, and Z to go ....

Lyrics:

Just On The Brink Of Forever

(Verse 1)
From the moment we set out in search of new lands
We’ve had fear and excitement at each new expanse
Rolling tundras
Mountain steppes
Jungle drums
Place your bets

(Pre Chorus)
Will we make it or die trying?
Is the reward worth the risk of dying?
Should we set out or say ‘never!’
Just a heartbeat from the brink of forever

(Chorus)
Sailing the seas
In the Fifteenth century
We were just on the brink of forever,
Flying the skies
In the Nineteen Thirties
We were just on the brink of forever

(Verse 2)
There surely can be no doubt we’ll keep making plans
Embracing the fear and excitement of each new expanse
Lunar landing
Ocean depths
Outer space
Place your bets

(Pre Chorus)
Will we make it or die trying?
Is the reward worth the risk of dying?
Should we set out or say ‘never!’
Just a heartbeat from the brink of forever

(Chorus)
Paddling canoes
Colonising with the breeze
We were just on the brink of forever
Test flights to space
In the Nineteen Fifties
We were just on the brink of forever

(Outro)
We are just on the brink of forever
Just on the brink of forever
Searching for Never Never
We are just on the brink of forever!

So true. This makes me think of a seemingly mile long line of people spending good money to climb Mt Everest. Is the reward worth the risk of dying? For lots of people yes. I’d rather just play my guitar and collaborate with 50/90 folk. These are thought provoking lyrics…Enjoyed them.
