When The Washing Machine Dies

Liner Notes:

My washing machine has stopped working properly. It does everything except spin the clothes dry. After hanging mounds of dripping clothes on the deck, my husband and I went out and ordered a new one. It will be 5 days until it arrives! It isn't going to be a pretty week for my family -lol.

Lyrics:

When the Washing Machine Dies

I've a lot of dirty laundry
Oh, I mean literally
Work out clothes
Pungent socks
Smells a lot like the dead sea

When the washing machine dies
Water, water everywhere
My spirit's about to capsize
When the washing machine dies
Bury my head and cry

The hamper's over flowing
Accumulation's ongoing
Shirts and pants
Lingerie
Can't stop the pile from growing

When the washing machine dies
Water, water everywhere
My spirit's about to capsize
When the washing machine dies
Bury my head and cry

My sanity is sinking
Trying to stay afloat
Knock knock
Who's there
Looks like my life boat

Water, water everywhere
My spirit's about to capsize
Then my new washer arrives
Then my new washer arrives
Then my new washer arrives

I Love, Love this! Great write and hope you don't have to use Grandma's old washing board.

Oh, cry me a river, whippersnapper! I remember my mother hanging up clothes on the clothesline back in the day, with any old clothespins she could find that I hadn't already "borrowed" to make puppets and rubber band shooting guns out of.

Nice lyrics, by the way! Wink

Sincere and authentic lyrics everyone surely will feel your pain, the line' Smells a lot like the dead sea' is very good. I like all the nautical references that you have woven into this.

Very creative write I enjoyed reading. In the meantime, if it's warm enough out, sunny & even humid, take a blanket or two and put it on your driveway and put the clothes on it spread apart and I guarantee things will dry up quickly. It's either that or go to a public laundromat until your new prize arrives.

Great storytelling. I associate dying household appliances with positive changes coming into my life….Our dryer broke the birth day of my firstborn and shortly after coming home with our second child, our refrigerator stopped working. Hopefully this new washing machine brings about positive change for you…

What a clever lyric. I loved so many of the lines:
Oh, I mean literally
Bury my head and cry
Knock, knock who’s there

You are a very imaginative writer and make the most mundane situations shine!

I like how you turned lemons into lemonade and created this lyric out of your poor washing machine. This is relatable and amusing at the same time. I especially like the line: "My spirit's about to capsize". Good write!
