Revolution Is Coming
Post date:
Liner Notes:
Another lyric that I think has been inspired by listening to the new Iron Maiden album.
And also by something that I read maybe 3 or 4 years ago. It was an article that commented on what would happen if global warming isn't tackled. Summarised briefly, large swathes of the southern hemisphere would become essentially uninhabitable, which would be likely to lead to war and migration on a scale never seen before. Not a particularly cheery topic but it lends itself well to a lyrical topic
Lyrics:
Revolution Is Coming
(Verse 1)
Complacency is the old enemy
That’s brought countless empires down
The most mighty Romans now reduced
To relics dug from the ground
(Verse 2)
Or Alexander, the once great
His empire too crumbled to dust
When the clang of the swords has died away
How quickly those blades turn to rust
(Pre Chorus)
Never see it
Caught unaware
Too late to turn back
When your foot’s trapped in the snare
(Chorus)
Revolution is coming
No wall will hold it at bay
So the only question is whether
We try to stand in its way
(Verse 3)
Invincibility is the new alchemy
The quest for greater fire power
But this tidal wave can’t be shot down
We’re into the final hour
(Verse 4)
Statues torn down from within and without
The barricades will splinter and crash
And the out-of-date generals will scratch at their heads
As their Empires are demolished fast
(Pre Chorus)
Never see it
Caught unaware
Too late to turn back
When your foot’s trapped in the snare
(Chorus)
Revolution is coming
No wall will hold it at bay
So the only question is whether
We try to stand in its way

Strong writing and rather insightful. Nicely done.
