Liner Notes:

PROMPT: page
(pages/pages/paging)

BONUS WORDS:
story
book
blank
chapter
last

Got a late start but glad I wrote. A perfect prompt for where my head is at a lot lately. Lost my brother in July and there's been a lot of off and on sadness, grieving, happy rememberances, etc. So the lyric is a bit aimed at him, but also just at life in general.

Lyrics:

V1:
A story doesn't always
Go the way you want it to
From chapter to chapter

Life's like a book in many ways
But it happens while you're being you
And not always ever after

Pre:
Sometimes the story goes all wrong
Sometimes it's short instead of long
Sometimes you never find who you wanna be

CH:
You never made it to The Last Page
The story that was supposed to be
You never made it to The Last Page
But now you've been set free
Had to lay the book down and let it be
Had to lay the book down and let it be

V1:
I wish a better story
Could have been written
A better story about you

Revive your youthful glory
Instead of being bitten
But there was nothin' anyone could do

Pre:
Sometimes the story goes all wrong
Sometimes it's short instead of long
Sometimes you never find who you wanna be

CH:
You never made it to The Last Page
The story that was supposed to be
You never made it to The Last Page
But now you've been set free
Had to lay the book down and let it be
Had to lay the book down and let it be

Very beautiful song. Everything is so fantastically created. I love it how the chorus comes. Your song is very relatable and truly gorgeous. I can imagine it in a musical. This is definitely a keeper.

Oh so touching and I hope your music is helping you in some way with your grieving. I still have sad times and my brother died in 2008. Great song!

Poignant and heartfelt, particularly given your liner notes. The rawness in your vocals really hits home.

Really great piano pop ballad here. This is a poignant lyric too. Well done.

Wow, you managed to write such a beautiful tribute that not only related to the prompt but used all the bonus words and none of them felt forced. This is a truly moving song that made me tear up, your use of the metaphor is nothing short of masterful. I am sorry for your lose, I can't imagine how hard that must be but you definitely something beautiful from it.

Amazing, beautiful, powerfully personal song. I'm thinking of two dear friends I lost too early as I listen.
Your vocal is wonderful and touching - I think piano/vocal often lends itself to great singing better than the guitar I usually use.
