THEME/PROMPT: Road(s) - Road rash? Road rage? Roadie life? Road to nowhere? Is it the road less traveled or on the road again? Give us a road song!

TAGS: superskirmish, songskirmish, ss082721B, feast, road,

HOST: @vivalarayna

WHAT: We’ll have an hour* to write, record, and post a song in response to, or hopefully somewhat inspired by, the announced prompt. Instrumentals, lyrics-only, and even partial songs are also fine. When you have finished, please share the link to your song in this thread.

THEN PLEASE GO LISTEN TO AND COMMENT ON OTHER PARTICIPANTS' SONGS!

This is a great way to see how others interpreted the prompt (sometimes in surprising directions!) and also helps build the community within 50/90. You may be inspired by what you find to possibly collaborate, or challenge your own writing to turn off that internal editor and go to a new level.

What to do if this prompt doesn't inspire you? There is a new prompt every two hours in a superskirmish and this is the second of thirteen. There are plenty more opportunities for inspiration on their way. Happy skirmishing!!

*If you take longer than an hour or get started late, please post your entry anyway, we have 84 days left for more writing.

Great prompt! I always love a road song.

Lyrics:

V1:
I've always liked to explore
And drivin's never been a chore
Workin' my way down the road
Without a map or any secret code

Drivin' by the seat of my pants
Straight ahead without a glance
At any alternate route I could take
Or any thought of stepping on the brake

CH:
At a Fork in the Road again
It makes me wonder where or when
Is my final destination written in stone
Should I go to the left or to the right
Will one of those choices show me light
Will the wrong road leave me alone
Fork in the Road
Fork in the Road

V2:
Once in a while I break down
In some new and unknown town
And I need a place to revive
Help my motor feel alive

'Till I'm back in the driver's seat
Headin' down that small town street
Don't need no GPS
'Cause all that does is give me stress

CH:
At a Fork in the Road again
It makes me wonder where or when
Is my final destination written in stone
Should I go to the left or to the right
Will one of those choices show me light
Will the wrong road leave me alone
Fork in the Road
Fork in the Road

Please keep your comments respectful, honest, and constructive. Please focus on the song and not the demo.

Sounds like me. Love it. Vocals, lyric, guitar all work well together.

Very beautiful lyrics with beautiful images, visual and inspiring. Your music goes hand in hand with your lyrics and your singing and playing are gorgeous. What a wonderful take on a skirmish prompt! So clear you love road songs. Enjoyed my listen very much.

Wonderful easy going country feel with beautiful harmonies and relatable message. I love the thoughtful reflection you brought to these lyrics and am so impressed by the songs you create, especially how you do them during a skirmish!

"It makes me wonder where or when/Is my final destination written in stone" you have so many strong lines and metaphors in this piece. It definitely has a "driving song" sound to it! This turned out great and I'm glad you enjoyed the prompt!

Ah that looks like a jeff lyric, excellent skirmish! Really nice!

Wow those harmonies are fantastic--reminiscent of the Eagles or Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. The simplicity of the bare guitar and vocals works really well, although I'd love to hear this with a full band too. This is great!

Always love an on the road song. Really like the production with multiple tracks, and the guitar. So nice all around.

This is a beautiful song and a great use of the prompt! As someone who love to drives, I can relate to this a lot, though I use a GPS pretty much all the time but I have also had plenty of times that I hope in the car with my wife and just drive then use the GPS to get home.

As a teenager and a young adult I dreamt of nothing more than getting a van or small RV and just living in it, driving around playing music for money. Oh the dreams f a young person.
