What: We will have a one hour skirmish to write to a prompt.*

At first, I was going to make this more ambiguous, but the reality is I've had a recurring theme in life that I've been addressing more firmly 8ver the past few years. Im a good, non-judgmental listener, which allows people to open up about their problems. All well and good until they take I fir granted and just start dumping their problems. Then I'm covered in their emotional diarrhea and I guarantee they do not hold that kind of space for me. So I started setting very firm boundaries. My circle has decidedly changed for the better. Still, sometimes people need that boundary re-established... or they need to leave.
Lyrics:
VERSE 1
We've already had
This conversation
And I can't go through
Another iteration
We go in circles round and round
Downside up and upside down
But I have to wonder
Did you even hear a sound
VERSE 2
We've been over
This before
Talking to you's
Become a chore
Now I dread every exchange
Overwhelmed and feeling strained
Let's face the facts
You'll never change
CHORUS
I said it plain
I said it clear
But somehow
You still don't hear
I can't take
More of this friction
Why the hell
Won't you just listen
BRIDGE
Dealing with you
Takes all my energy
Cuz you won't ever listen
Or respect this boundary
I'm not your therapist
Gotta stop this mental drain
You've got some shit to work through
But don't bring it here again
VERSE 3
A broken record's
What you've become
The same old tune
Until I'm numb
I'm not saying let it go
But understand this ain't your show
Time after time
I've let you know
CHORUS
I said it plain
I said it clear
But somehow
You still don't hear
I can't take
More of this friction
Why the hell
Won't you just listen
We've already had

Can hear this being worked out in a conversation that perhaps would be familiar to many. Great writing.
I've known people like this. Great idea for the listen theme!
Very cool and honest take on a skirmish prompt.
Some people feel it is their duty to complain, or as they see it, communicate feelings. Ugh.
Yes, it is an annoyance. Very interesting take in prompt.
Oh man, I've been there before more times than I can count. At some point you have to get over stuff and move on.
This is a great use of the prompt, I love how straight forward you are in the lyrics. There's no messing around there, it's a clear boundary that should not be crossed. Very nice work!
I love the rhyme of "consideration" and "iteration" and the phrase "downside up and upside down"! Totally relate to where you're coming from in your lyric, and you portray the emotion of being willing to listen but to being taken advantage of. Great take on the prompt and excellent lyric!
