Kanttila Says:

I threw together a clip show so you got something to look at while listening to the song. Just had some fun assembling awesome Mecha anime clips.

The last song you need for an album is always the hardest one. This one, Garbage Day, had a short burst of songs with a specific vibe that is gone now. But I think I can say it's done now.

This song is inspired by the Getter Robo OP which has the singer screaming GATSU! It reminded me of GaoGaiGar with the GAH-GAH-GAH GAH-GAH-GAH GAO GAI GAR! Add the Transformers Victory song in the mix and infuse it with my usual structure and this is what you get.

I wanted to have a song with Cola on the album, but I was uninspired lyrically on the other song we have in the works. So I came up with this real quick.

I broke a string on my Tele when I was writing the song so, okay it's a Strat track. Nope, broke a string on that right before I started recording. Both times I slammed my fist down too hard when ringing out a triumph chord. It's symbolic that the last song recorded for Garbage Day has my main guitars breaking down.

Out of desperation I used my Squier Mustang for the rhythm tracks. This is a terribly set-up guitar with an awful bridge. It disappointed me greatly. However using it for this song has shown me that I might be underrating it.

I used my PRS copy for the solo, which is a bit wonky at the moment but it worked.

Lyrics:

Guts, guts, guts!

Lonely, lonely looking for that sweet sweet kiss
Suddenly, suddenly see a light cut through the mist

Blue moon keep on shining (shining)
Shine on a boy with no soul
G-Stone give me power (power)
Smack me, Goldion Hammer

and give me

Guts, guts, guts, guts, guts, guts, guts, guts
Looking for, looking for
Guts, guts, guts, guts, guts, guts, guts, guts
Looking for, looking for

A miracle in a spark to light my way
To ride the storm of a world in disarray
I need no reason but my own, I need the guts!
Break beyond your scripted days, go nuts!

Slowly, slowly struggling to make a sound
Finally, finally feel a rumble from the ground

Blue world keep on turning (turning)
Turn for a girl with no home
Choose me, Yellow Lion (lion)
Help me, Victory Saber

Reality be rent...
Synapse break...
Banishment, this world!

Guts, guts, guts, guts, guts, guts, guts, guts
Looking for, looking for
Guts, guts, guts, guts, guts, guts, guts, guts
Looking for, looking for

A miracle in a spark to light my way
To ride the storm of a world in disarray
I need no reason but my own, to go nuts
I’m telling ya, We need guts!

now t hs si some great anime rocks. production is excellent as is the division of vocals and if everybody in the room isnt screaming along with t he chorus, t he singalong police are going to be taking down names.

I'm a fan of Mustangs. They're a blast to play, but can be a bit of a pain to maintain the setup on. They do make great crunchy and huge sounding rhythm guitars. Parting together a Jaguar right now, they have all the same intonation/bridge issues plus all the extra electronics to worry about Biggrin Guess I'm a glutton for punishment.

This is a great track all over, perfect for an intro/outro anime tune! Your voices sound great together as well. Nice work! Great video too, I quite enjoyed it.

great production, so well put together! lots to listen one to listen to a few times! got a bit of Tom Verlaine in those vox particularly early on and Colas voice really sets off great against it! . Nice one!

Gosh, now that @coolparadiso has mentioned Tom Verlaine I can totally hear it in Kanttila's vox.
I'm always a fan of your barely-under-control drumming.
Enjoying the shared vocals.
Great rokkin guitar solo, and good guitar work all 'round.
Yup, great collab for sure.

I'm gonna lose major nerd points for this, but the lyrics and the video made me think of some toys I had as a kid - they were these robotic animals that fit together to form a larger robot...I'm too lazy to google it but was it Voltron??? You either pointed and laughed at your screen just now or say "yeah!" lol
Anyway, as with all your tracks, there's major energy here and its just tumbles forward in a great way.
Cola's vocals are soaring and powerful and honestly go really well with the video.
The contrast between the two vocal styles really makes for fun listening.
And of course the awesome guitar!
I'm not educated on guitar stuff, but the one you used after the others met their demise really sounds good here; that solo is kickin.
Again, really digging the vocals here.
I'm liking this team-up!
