I was very happy to put music to these very relatable lyrics, sent to me by @Coolparadiso . Very enjoyable experience.

Lyrics:

A Question of Balance

v1 When i was just a young girl
I asked my dear old granddad
When i become a grown up
What will make me happy or make me sad

v2 He looked at me and smiled
It was like he really knew
This ordinary old working man
A lifetime he’d been through

c Its not about the big things
Not the having or the absence
Its a bit of this and some of that
Its a question of balance

v3 As i grew much older
i saw the good times and the bad
But i tried to focus on the positive
Enjoy the things i had

v4 Fortunately it worked okay
when the balance was kept
When i focused on what i knew
when not how to just accept

c 4 Its not about the big things
Not the having or the absence
Its a bit of this and some of that
Its a question of balance

v5 It seems like only yesterday
My youngest son came to me
He said I’m trying to unlock life’s mysteries
Do you have the key

v6 I remembered that wise old man
And the words he said to me
I said well here's grandads advice
He was right i now can see

Its not about the big things
Not the having or the absence
Its a bit of this and some of that
Its a question of balance
Its a bit of this and some of that
Its a question of balance

Some useful wisdom here, and I can picture the song's generational characters. And then there's Mandolinda's distinctive, recognizable sound - well-suited to the homespun words. Interesting musical phrasing - I like how the rhymes are there, but not quite where you might expect. Excellent collab that shows both collaborators' strengths.

Wow, do you have a nice voice! This is the first time I've heard you, I think. (I'm a big @coolparadiso fan!)

Very, very nice collaboration you guys!

(Also, "A Question of Balance" is one of my favorite Moody Blues albums!)

the opening verse plays like coolparadisos take on que ser sera.. then it goes a little deeper. mandolina handles the folksy philosophy with tenderness and wisdom.

Very sweet. Your voice, the lyrics, and your mandolin blend perfectly.

My grandma used to say "Everything in moderation"...not sure I heeded her advice over the years but this wise and wistful piece of savviness I might have listened to...I really like how Mandolinda delivers John's fine lyrics...
