Liner Notes:

Written back on the 4th of August for Simone Biles. With apologies.

Acoustic: Yairi DY-46 (capo 2)
Mic: Roland R-05 handheld recorder

Lyrics:

I don't know all the things you're going through
I don't know the things you've gotta do
But I know it can't be easy

And I don't understand the ins and outs
What all the fuss is all about
But I know you give completely

And I don't know what it's like
To stand on the biggest stage
In the whole damn world
And pretend everything will be okay

I don't know how you can be so strong
When everything is going wrong
But there you stand, you're a champion

I don't know why you have to be the one
To deal with this and what's to come
All alone with your companions

And I don't know what it's like
To stand on the biggest stage
In the whole damn world
And pretend everything will be okay

Wow, I have no idea how this could happen, but I really hope she gets to hear this. It's beautifully empathetic and also beautiful musically. "And I don't know what it's like/To stand on the biggest stage/In the whole damn world/And pretend everything will be okay" Very few do, yet plenty act as if they were there. Olympians aside, this is a wonderfully supportive song that would resonate with many for its non-judgmental approach. Fantastic write.

First of all, your singing and playing are right on! Guitar/vocal only is just absolutely right for this song. Powerful, direct and necessary song.

The intro perfectly sets the mood. It is a really good song, the guitar playing and the vocal are both spot on! Really interesting topic, only half way through did the name suddenly ring a bell. Youve got inside the head showing pressure that must be on such a young star . Very well done TC.

This fits right into what I consider a great social commentary song. You don't mention her by name but you put yourself in her shoes as much as you can and you empathize. Your usual tasty guitar playing. Would love to hear a finished product of this sometime.
