Again, a Wikipedia sort of random selection. I am finding some interesting topics, if patient. Also, I have seen this ship in my travels, and like many things, time is the great leveller.

Lyrics:

ms marella

have you ever seen 160 million $, floating on the seas?
v1
The MS Marella Celebration
described by Wikipedia,
was launched in 1983
out of Noordam, in the Netherlands
and was registered in Sint Maarten
She proudly sailed in the caribbean,

C
she could cruise the seven seas
with her two big deisels churning
at a speed of 18 -20 knots
with her crew of five hundred persons
and all passengers aboard, she was
a beautiful site at any port

have you ever seen 160 million $, floating on the seas?

V2
the finest fittings and furnishings
were bestowed on all nine decks, and
the decor was a stunning vision
there were art works in the lobby and
in the dining rooms, that were said to
be worth at least a cool million.

v3
Some times were good and sometimes were bad
she was sold and then resold
and finally in 2020, retired from service
to a breaking yard , some where off Greece.
she had outlived her only purpose

have you ever seen 160 million $, floating on the seas, one last time?

she could cruise the seven seas
with her two big diesels churning
at a speed of 18 -20 knots
with her crew of five hundred persons
and all passengers aboard, she was
a beautiful site at any port
a beautiful site at any port.

Nice song, I like the social commentary it reflects. You allow it to be ironic without over selling it. Well done!

Nice storytelling here. You get the good arc from beginning to end here.

I like the storytelling and imagery. The mandolin and vocals are very nice! Good work.

This is a great use of a rather random prompt and you manage to make lines like, "have you ever seen 160 million $, floating on the seas?" that shouldn't feel musical feel very musical. This is fun, catchy and educational. Really nice work on this!
