Liner Notes:

I wasn't quite sure where to go with the prompt, so I started thinking about different types of bugs, and that took me to the old nursery rhyme, and this popped out!

Lyrics:

Ladybird, ladybird, don’t fly off home
don’t head towards the fire, don’t face it alone.
It’s been a long time since your children have grown,
it’s high time you put yourself first

You’ve spent far too long putting out every flame,
you’ve carried the guilt and you’ve carried the blame.
And each time you do it, it turns out the same
and each time’s a little bit worse

Ladybird, ladybird, take a look round
the flowers and grasses are scenting the ground
there’s so much to find that you haven’t yet found
so ladybird, don’t fly off home.

Ladybird, ladybird, why can’t you see
That maybe it’s time for you, too, to fly free
What’s been for so long doesn’t still have to be
the way that you’re choosing to live

You’ve spent far too long taking care of them all
Fulfilled every need and replied to each call
just stop for a minute, or one day you’ll fall
with nothing left in you to give

Ladybird, ladybird, take a look round
the flowers and grasses are scenting the ground
there’s so much to find that you haven’t yet found
so ladybird, don’t fly off home.

I think these are very astute lyrics delivered in a very skilful and musical way. Spo clever to take the' Ladybird fly away home' song and turn it into something so different. Very good writing.

Awesome! Your vocal is lovely and lilting, and the gentle guitar waltz is wonderful.

I love how effortlessly the vocal melody floats over the guitar, like a ladybug taking flight. A very sweet and sincere message, and a lovely performance - great work!
