Liner Notes:

From last Sunday till this past Friday, I moved locally within the community I live in. After the last move that was a disaster a number of years ago, I decided to take the bull by the horns and do everything to ensure we didn't repeat the horror story of that experience and we didn't. However, in addition to the movers (who came this past Friday) and only took two hours, I did almost half of the work on my own, carting stuff between places before they arrived. I moved the smaller items and left the biggies for the movers who were fabulous.

So, that gives the readers some backstory for this skirmish write. Thank you Corinne for hosting and for the skirmish theme.

**** I'll be back later to comment on others who post. Unpacking and have to shop for food.

Lyrics:

Upside Down

Spent five days
Packing my bags
Dusting off my former dwelling
With a whole lot of rags
Then came the moving
Light and heavy I do
I was shaken not stirred
For the challenge it's true

My body and soul
Were turned upside down
Even though I moved a mile
Across this town
Totally exhausted
And my head in a spin
Yeah, I was upside down
That's where I've been

Muscles used
Got aches and pains
I was a human octopus
Feeling all of the strains
Yeah I'm still not back
To where I want to be
When unpacking comes next
In my new place ya see

My body and soul
Were turned upside down
Even though I moved a mile
Across this town
Totally exhausted
And my head in a spin
Yeah, I was upside down
That's where I've been

I'll be right side up in a couple of days
After I catch some z's and sleep off the haze

My body and soul
Were turned upside down
Even though I moved a mile
Across this town
Totally exhausted
And my head in a spin
Yeah, I was upside down
That's where I've been

This was a perfect skirmish for you! I hate moving and you described how it feels so well and with such great flow!

There's something I the air - I know so many people who are moving right now! Best wishes for your new abode. This is a fun song. I especially love the "human octopus" line.

A very descriptive write of a big move. Well done on turning that recent experience into a skirmish song!

A nice write about your moving (good luck unpacking) I liked the tip to James Bond.

Great take on the skirmish, glad you survived the move!

I did one of those around the corner moves, using a wheelbarrow and garden cart for the majority of stuff I had. Now I need a big truck to haul stuff around. I need to downsize in the next ten years, so I am planning to destash sometime.. maybe next year.
I like your write very much, and am impressed you did it in the middle of moving. Kudos to you.

if there is one thing i never want to do again - moving is probably top. Only trouble is when i stopped i started helping the kids! Nice observation

Excellent picture of your experience! I can very much relate, as we moved across town too at the end of May. Whew, crazy times, but exciting too. You lyric paints the picture very well of both the act of moving and the emotions associated with it.

Nice write considering all you had going on. I hope the new move righted you up. Kudos to you, I couldn't have done it.

Impressive that you did this in the midst of chaos - perhaps writing helped you maintain a grip on sanity!
Well-done meter and rhyme make this one ready for music. And you got me picturing moves I've made - fortunately we've been in the same house for 17 years. But we are in the process of moving our daughter back to college.

Nice use of the prompt! That chorus is very catchy and lends itself to being sung. This is a solid write, even more so for a skirmish!
