Lie To Myself
Post date:
Demo:
Liner Notes:
Found a snippet of an idea from 5/22 and since I can't seem to finish most of the songs I'm starting now... you know, only writing half a song, then I might as well find an incomplete one and get something finished (while only writing half a song.)
Acoustic: Yairi DY-46
Mic: Roland R-05 Handheld recorder
Lyrics:
I tell myself what I want to hear
Parts of me seem to disappear
When I lie to myself
Somewhere deep I think I know
But I can't climb out of my hole
When I lie to myself
I don't know why I can't be
True to trust and honesty
I don't know why I lie to myself
I make a promise to myself
Confront the anger that I've felt
But I lie to myself
I'm not the person I want to be
I'm half a man, I'm incomplete
When I lie to myself
I don't know why I can't be
True to trust and honesty
I don't know why I lie to myself
I don't know why I can't be
True to trust and honesty
I don't know why I lie to myself

Glad this one got finished. Great guitar work and melody. I really like the tag line and the explorations in verse on the consequences. Hoping the singer figures it out.
lovely guitar arrangement for a winning melody. love your vocal phrasing as well.
Nice tune, the guitar playing is great here. The progression is cool, especially in the verses. Lyrics are well done also! Enjoyable listen.
Love the Guitar rift the end was very sudden ! yip once my studio is up hopefully this week i aim to finish some half finished stuff and put it up !
It ends where it should, I think. Anything else would be a distraction. I really like the chord progression around the halfway point.
Yup good guitar. The music is extremely comfortable yet the vocals are much edgier against it. This is well done!
A common thread with my writing. Sometimes we think we’re so upfront and honest with people and then we realize we lie to ourselves. Nice guitar/vocals.
I like that descending guitar part combined with these dark lyrics about someone who’s a bit lost.
Great hook and lovely guitar work a keeper
A very strong song and relatable too...excellent guitar and yearning, plaintive vocals...a winner and no lie!
