Liner Notes:

the opening lines of sunfires lyrics put me in mind of Big Bad John, one of my favorite childhood AM Radio songs and I had always wanted to do a song like it but never got around to it,, here was my chance, or so i thought. the chorus suggested another direction so i took that one as well. some of big john remains, but im glad i didn't put the sunfire out because that is what the song is made of.

Lyrics:

At 17
He was 6 feet tall
Grew hair to his ass
And built this wall
Around his heart
Where no one could tame
This beast he created
It was such a shame

He was teenage wookie
Playing star wars
A crazy wild boy
Who liked to get on all fours
He was a teenage wookie
That's what they called him
Out of control at the time
Future looking grim

At 21
He was 6 foot 5
Had this werewolf look
And quite a drive
Liked to play games
Spending days and nights
Out on the town
Where he set his sites

He was teenage wookie
Playing star wars
A crazy wild boy
Who liked to get on all fours
He was a teenage wookie
That's what they called him
Out of control at the time
Future looking grim

Then suddenly the tide began to change
Starting with his image that shifted its range
Shaved all the hair and turned a bad attitude
Towards something more humble with gratitude
He always looked back in horror at those days
When the clouds hung high and blocked the sun rays

He was teenage wookie
Playing star wars
A crazy wild boy
Who liked to get on all fours
He was a teenage wookie
That's what they called him
Out of control at the time
Future looking grim

I think we all know someone like this. Life is so different when reality hits after the frontal lobes mature. Good write.

Perfect arrangement for these lyrics, I love the classic Bill acoustic sound. There is a fun to this track, especially in the choruses. It all comes out naturally. Well done!

I really enjoyed this! I like the title...I got an instant image and with the story it's perfect. And I like the spanning of the years and self-awareness eventually. And the music/guitar and vocal complement the lyric really well. Nicely done!

Wow, I haven't thought about Big Bad John and Jimmy Dean in decades--so I loved that reference. I remember enjoying a Jimmy Dean variety show that was on tv for a season or two.

These are really good and fun lyrics--and you've done your usual great job "interpreting" them. Nice job, Bill! (And Sunfire!)

I love the talking blues style for this one, and somehow you manage to work in some character development and story arc in this as well. Bravo!

Yep...nailed again! Great lyrics given the BW talking blues treatment with a blow on the harp and a catchy chorus...

So so fun! I loved this one, especially since I'm a bit of a Star Wars geek.

I knew one of these guys long hair, big burly beard before he was even in his 20's. We were walking to his house one day and some guys drove by us yelling "f'in nerds" or some such drivel and one of them let out the best chewbacca yell I've ever heard a human do...... we just laughed, I mean that guy obviously knew his Star Wars Biggrin

The Big John influence is strong in this one. A song I haven't heard in many years, but was always in the 8-track rotation. Great write, and really great delivery and playing on this one too Bill!

Great interpretation of excellent lyrics, Bill. It’s like you two were meant to collaborate together! I enjoyed my listen.
