Liner Notes:

This is a bit of a cheat for a skirmish. 3PM is the middle of my work afternoon, so I took a late lunch, and right on cue a co-worker asked for my help at 2:58, I had 45 minutes left, I jump over to the forum and DISCO!!!

My knowledge of disco is about as deep as a K-Tel greatest hits compilation, there's no time to ask my wife who likes... EUREKA!

Within 45 minutes I had roughed in the arrangement and lyrics, which were almost entirely pulled from something I could read off the back of a "Disco Hits" record and is loosely inspired by my wife.

...and this is where I cheated. I knew I wouldn't be able to record vocals until much later, so as the night went I popped in and played with the arrangement and then after I recorded the vocals I played around a bit more to give it some shine. Disco needs shine. It's still a rush job, but this is probably the result of closer to three hours.

But, I think I made a legitimate disco song in the end.

Lyrics:

[VERSE]
It’s hard to keep her focused
When they PLAY THAT FUNKY MUSIC
She wants to SHAKE HER BOOTY
To that BOOGIE OOGIE OOGIE

[VERSE]
Some sort of LOVE INJECTION.
Force her to just start dancing
But THAT'S THE WAY (SHE (WE) LIKE IT).
She gonna WHIP IT, whip it all night

[CHORUS]
She’s hitting the FUNKY TOWN.
From dusk until the dawn
Mid day she needs THE HUSTLE
Keeps screaming MORE, MORE, MORE

Not sure I WILL SURVIVE.
With all that STAYIN' ALIVE
She’s got it ON THE RADIO.
Cause my baby only wants to disco

My baby only wants to disco

[VERSE]
My woman LOVES THE NIGHTLIFE
That SUPER FREAK, GET DOWN TONIGHT.
Lost in that BOOGIE WONDERLAND
Going at it like it’s her LAST DANCE.

[CHORUS]
She’s hitting the FUNKY TOWN.
From dusk until the dawn
Mid day she needs THE HUSTLE
Keeps screaming MORE, MORE, MORE

Not sure I WILL SURVIVE.
With all that STAYIN' ALIVE
She’s got it ON THE RADIO.
Cause my baby only wants to disco

Only wants to disco

Only wants to disco

[BRIDGE]
...this was a "big idea" of a montage of 70s DJs, I don't know what I was thinking. Dr. Johnny Fever to the rescue!

[CHORUS]
She’s hitting the FUNKY TOWN.
From dusk until the dawn
Mid day she needs THE HUSTLE
Keeps screaming MORE, MORE, MORE

Not sure how I WILL SURVIVE.
With all that STAYIN' ALIVE
She’s got it ON THE RADIO.
Cause my baby only wants to disco

[OUTRO]
She’s hitting the FUNKY TOWN.
From dusk until the dawn
Mid day she needs THE HUSTLE
Keeps screaming MORE, MORE, MORE

Not sure how I WILL SURVIVE.
With all that STAYIN' ALIVE
She’s got it ON THE RADIO.
Cause my baby only wants to disco

Yeah, that groove is infectuous. I'm loving the tone of the keys on this one - & all the references to Disco Songs. And the Doctor - that's the killer part of this one. WKRP FTW. K-Tel does Disco Biggrin Awesome skirmish!

This grooves.

Great bass and disco beat.

Perfect vocals for this style.

Found my hips to be moving a bit here at my standing desk while I do mundane work.

Ah, here's the shoulders moving a bit at around 1:53 - that's a great groove there; nice additions with the background vox, reminds me of Funkin' For Jamaica.

That synth panned to the left is unique, fits really well with the overall vibe.

Great friggin track.

Wait...this was a skirmish?! Dude...

Naturally, I've had to check out the songs marked "Disco" and this is my favorite of the skirmish. Captures the vibe through the lyrics, music, and vocals. Well done! I'm dancing! You've inspired me to join in - maybe...

Well worth the "cheat"! You have made a solid disco tune that is a pleasure to listen to, the bassline and keys going nuts is straight up disco. I love the references you threw into the lyrics you spit out at a great clip effortlessly.

I'm a pretty big fan of disco, a friend actually gave me a small stack of those K-Tel compilation albums last year and they are amazing.

Lots of fun rhythmic energy I can move around to. Very upbeat! I like it! Great job overall. Vocals, the words, the music and background sound effects!

This is the disco that I appreciate, It's funky and a bit gritty and enough going on it's intriguing on just a listen, but it does make me want to dance. checked all of my dance music boxes Biggrin

Bridge was a good idea!

Excellent lyric, and an even better delivery on this. Really catchy and a ton of fun.

Oh disco groove - wriggle those hips !
Love the lyric and considering you are not a disco freak, very well done Smile Defo has that 70s feel.

Sounds good though, this reminds me a lot of the 80's U.K. pop sound. Well-produced track.
