[AUDIO SHOULD BE FIXED - PLZ LET ME KNOW IF YOU CAN’T LISTEN, THX] Well I was determined to finish this skirmish, so it’s a bit late. We’re in NYC for a week, recorded this in our hotel room, the occasional beeps are the elevator. Had issues recording on my IPad but think I got this at least semi- worked out. With my setup in the room couldn’t do a proper disco groove so included the disco era in my lyric. Not sure if I have the correct link for the audio.

Lyrics:

V1:
In the ‘70s you were falling’ apart
Disco would never be part of your plan
These city streets etched in your heart
A horn-playin’ jazz man

You’d see them head out late at night
With a Studio 54 destination
You shook your head, wouldn’t put up a fight
Your improv life your own creation

CH:
Living’ life the way you wanted
Downtown bars with tiny stages
Playin’ for a buck or two
Without a doubt you knew exactly what to do
And That’s Why I Admired You

V2:
You stayed away from sequined dancers
Strobe light dance floors not your style
The cocaine may have given some answers
But you stayed in your bebop aisle

Then disco died you didn’t care
And you didn’t follow the next new fad
‘Cause you loved music free and rare
Late night jam sessions at your pad

CH:
Living’ life the way you wanted
Downtown bars with tiny stages
Playin’ for a buck or two
Without a doubt you knew exactly what to do
And That’s Why I Admired You

Yeah, you're right about the audio link. It's not working here Sad However, I do like the lyrics. That chorus really evokes the working musician doing it for the love & not the money. Great write!

The lyric is great. I can picture the images. I'll return to hear the tune. At present I can't hear it either.

Really nice tune. Your guitar and vocals always deliver something enjoyable and pleasing to listen to.

Working now Biggrin

I really like the stripped down accoustic + vocals for this. The harmonies on the chorus work really well. This was worth the wait to listen to!

This is a really beautiful, sweet song. The lyrics paint a wonderful picture and your delivery is full of emotion, the harmonies are a really nice touch!

I'll always take an Amy Ray comparison as a compliment! The Indigo Girls are a wonderful duo and I always tend to prefer Amy's songs to which my wife always responds, "Of course, hers are the more aggressive ones."

Really excellent lyric, and a lovely performance too. Very heartfelt and sounds great especially for where/what it was done with. Might not get a disco crowd going, but would definitely have a country bar doing some up-tempo two step Biggrin Great skirmish!

Defo has a 70s folk / singer songwriter / county feel to it Smile I really like this, despite your recording problems !
