Liner Notes:

This song is part of a project done on the Muse Songwriters Forum last week, using an instrumental music bed called "Hobo's Bottom Line" (all rights and credits for which belong to HoboSage, who has licensed it via Creative Commons, Non-Commercial w/ Attribution). The artist known as HoboSage is part of the Muse community, but is not a 50/90 participant. Participants in that challenge were invited to add lyrics and their own top line vocal melody to this music bed. This resulting track is my vocal and lyrics over HoboSage's superb instrument track.

Lyrics:

Space Angel

Space angel you’re in my dream
Looking at me that way
Try to know what you want from me
Feel you slipping away

You’re Venus with heat and light
I’m frozen on Mars
Time to travel in overdrive
Shoot the moon for the stars

I’m not really sleeping
Not even in bed
Space angel what did you do to my head

Inertia and gravity
Feel ‘em losing their grip
On the float as I take a ride
In a magical ship

In a bubble I see some words
It’s like they’re written in code
If I break it will I come down
Or will a planet explode

I see somebody drifting
Looks a little like you
Space angel don’t leave me til we are through

Cool water, cool feelings
New colors, new meanings
Whose name will be spoken
Which door will be opened
I’m starting to wonder if you ever knew

Break

Space angel you woke my mind
Starting over again
Memories are like stardust now
Scattered out in the wind
No beginning no end
No beginning no end

This very much appeals to my inner science fiction nerd (although I'd probably substitute "hyperdrive" for "overdrive" to avoid car associations / nail the futuristic vibe of the lyrics.)

Love your melodic choices for the vocal melody here and the vocals are really strong. Remind me quite a bit of Brad Roberts, shifted into a somewhat higher register...

this reminds me of the big production bands of late sixties album oriented rock. bands like the moody blues . clear voices with bell tone vocals, esoteric lyrics, lots of melody.

Can't listen at the moment but like the how it presents - to me - on the page. I love all things "spacey"!

Agree with @[headfirstonly] - This very much appeals to my inner science fiction nerd -

"In a bubble I see some words" makes me think of the space oriented comic books of my youth! Love it!

I Really like the meter and of the bridge? and how it all sounds!

Cool water, cool feelings

Tx for posting! Looking forward to listening,

Kevin

Just had a listen. Love it! It's not on the best system... Vox are great! I'd like to see them a bit more upfront!! Great production, playing vox!!

This is great, Jeff. I'm another who has a particular fondness for anything with a science fiction/space theme!

This song might be about “inner” space, too.
