Liner Notes:

I don't know where some of the ideas that motivate me to write come from at least with a title that includes wookie in it. Lol But, the Star Wars character Chewbacca certainly came to mind even though this has nothing to do with an actual wookie, which looks like some Big Foot character for those unfamiliar with a wookie.
Actually, part of the idea behind this centered on my older sibling. Growing up he was a wild and crazy teen mom and dad had trouble controlling and was always in hot water. At one point he grew his hair down to his ass as depicted in the writing. I didn't go into detail on all the incidents and accidents he went through and glazed over to keep it general but I wanted to take it in a direction that showed anybody no matter who they are can turn their life around regardless of the circumstances.
Maybe its a little goofy or silly with wookie in the title and writing but that was what came to mind. Also, the story progresses from 17 to age 21 and these days I often see 21 as a teen, like 40 is the new 30 and so forth. Anyway!

Lyrics:

Teenage Wookie

At 17
He was 6 feet tall
Grew hair to his ass
And built this wall
Around his heart
Where no one could tame
This beast he created
It was such a shame

He was teenage wookie
Playing star wars
A crazy wild boy
Who liked to get on all fours
He was a teenage wookie
That's what they called him
Out of control at the time
Future looking grim

At 21
He was 6 foot 5
Had this werewolf look
And quite a drive
Liked to play games
Spending days and nights
Out on the town
Where he set his sites

He was teenage wookie
Playing star wars
A crazy wild boy
Who liked to get on all fours
He was a teenage wookie
That's what they called him
Out of control at the time
Future looking grim

Then suddenly the tide began to change
Starting with his image that shifted its range
Shaved all the hair and turned a bad attitude
Towards something more humble with gratitude
He always looked back in horror at those days
When the clouds hung high and blocked the sun rays

He was teenage wookie
Playing star wars
A crazy wild boy
Who liked to get on all fours
He was a teenage wookie
That's what they called him
Out of control at the time
Future looking grim

i hadnt finished the first verse before i grabbed my guitar and sang the rest of the song..something in in the big bad john or boy named sue style. anyway, ive got my hands full for the next month or so but if nobody picks up on the opportunity to turn this fine lyric into a song, ill be around as backup to do the job.

I love an interesting title. Yes, it takes a while for the frontal lobe of the brain to mature. They always say youth is wasted on the young. Nice write and I think the term "wookie" does add to the flavor.

Interesting and different. It's a story to follow and which is good. Nice.

I'm a huge star wars fan and this draws me right in. Teenage wookie / werewolf concept too good Biggrin

I like the "teenage Wookie" concept of someone with their animal instincts controlling them. I was sort of let down at the last verse where the wookie becomes tame and submits to society. I guess it feel like a disowning of self rather than self discovery.

Those "I have no idea where this came from" songs are always the best. Great fun.

(Here's a random bit of Star Wars trivia: Peter Mayhew (RIP) used to live down the road from me when I lived in West Wickham. I loved how his prosthetic makeup still managed to capture what he looked like underneath, even down to his moustache...)
