Prose and Cons

Liner Notes:

This was a combination of two challenges 1. The fearless challenge elsewhere the prompt was some kind of Poet!
I Also chose the poem touched by an angel from the Poetry challenge here!

So i took some lines from that poem and played around with them particularly using poetry as a base/ Up popped this. Initially is was drum n bass and a bit of guitar - but i came back a while ago and added a piano (just midi) and another guitar.

Original poem posted below my lyrics only a couple of lines are straight out!

V1 Unaccustomed to acts of courage
Disbelieve in the coincidental
live coiled in shells of loneliness
High in the holy temple

V2 Listen to the music
Played by the drum and fife
Reality comes into sight
to liberate our life.

C but you were some kind of poet
You're lines eased my pain
And I Know I’ll rely on you
Again and again and again

V3 Love arrives when you least expect it
It breaks the chains of fear
Your prose helps keep me sane
Holding fast the thin veneer

V4 exiled from all delight
old memories hold my pleasure
I still feel your sympathy and love
Both in equal measure

C but you were some kind of poet
You're lines eased my pain
And I Know i’ll rely on you
Again and again and again

B Whatever I am you make me
Whatever I do is for you
Your verse is all that sooths me
Helps me make it through

C but you were some kind of poet
Your'e lines eased my pain
And I Know i’ll rely on you
Again and again and again
Again and again and again
Again and again and again

Original poem

We, unaccustomed to courage
exiles from delight
live coiled in shells of loneliness
until love leaves its high holy temple
and comes into our sight
to liberate us into life.

Love arrives
and in its train come ecstasies
old memories of pleasure
ancient histories of pain.
Yet if we are bold,
love strikes away the chains of fear
from our souls.

We are weaned from our timidity
In the flush of love’s light
we dare be brave
And suddenly we see
that love costs all we are
and will ever be.
Yet it is only love
which sets us free.

Please keep your comments respectful, honest, and constructive. Please focus on the song and not the demo.

the title caught my eye. cant comment on the lyrics since i dont know which are yours and which are cribbed, but it all flows together from one mind. those deep throated vocals come across like the howling from a well. really enjoyed this one.

Love the play on words and that intro - wow!

I don't know what the challenge was, but I enjoyed the lyrics you created and of course the song you produced was good. I dig the deep gravelly vocals. How low can you go?

This one wins best title of this 50/90. This thumps along so well and is a delight to my ears. Your voice always makes me smile after we spent that time together producing your album! I really dig the line "old memories hold my pleasure"

I love the epic performance of the vocals and the somewhat bluesy melody in the guitar, it's a very interesting combination!

What a great title! The song lives up to it too...very impressive!

I love that hook and chorus and the inspiration from the original write. Where this took you to bring in the poet was so well done, I really enjoyed reading this, a great write and so happy that you had challenges that led you here.
