Liner Notes:

Today I bought myself a new hat, which made me think of Tom Waits. It wasn't actually the hat I bought, but another one I tried on but didn't buy. Not this time, maybe next time. Anyway, the Tom Waits feeling lingered on and it lead me away from my usual fingerpicking to some primitive strumming and a reeling pump organ. From Tom Waits the step isn't too far to William Burroughs, and from Burroughs not too far - in a certain way - to William Tell.

Lyrics:

Bow and arrow ready to go
Ready to go
Ready to go
Bow and arrow ready to go
In the sunset glow

Feather in a straw hat just like that
Just like that
Just like that
Feather in a straw hat just like that
Ah that's where it's at

Sweet ripe apple on top of your head
On top of your head
On top of your head
Sweet ripe apple on top of your head
Steady now or you'll be dead

Bow and arrow ready to go
Ready to go
Ready to go
Bow and arrow ready to go
In the sunset glow

Love what you've done with that tried and tested stanza arrangement. And the guitar line is WONDERFUL! I think I need to save this to listen to for an evening lazing on the porch.

wow. i just wrote a song that had william burroughs and william telll in the same line. and i tom wais would really like this song because it has his kind of feel but does not copy him. i love that beat too and the guitar and vocals are excellent. it matches up really well with your forest song.

A fine song, funny how the muse takes, very in that Low key yup waits would like this. Great guitar, almost on the edge of gypsy.

Quite like what you are doing with your guitar playing in this song. The rhythm is rock steady and a perfect canvas for your second guitar track noodling on top. Nice vibe to the music and your singing style fits well with the song.

Simple but captivating - nice work. Textures of various guitars are the highlight for me.

A new hat will always make things better. If it's the right hat. And the right recording environment will make a good song great. As is amply evidenced here (those seagulls at the end are absolutely perfect.)

This even *sounds* like Burroughs doing Waits!

A gorgeous, laid-back song, with a catchy tune and beautifully performed. Enjoyed your vocal delivery a lot. The allusion to William Tell is great as well!

I am tragically undercooked in my knowledge of Burroughs, but I know my Waits and this has that vibe for sure. Very cool, and that's even before you get to the deconstructed ending with all the reverse sounds (which are SO Tom Waits). In the words of the Soundcloud repost bot: DOPEEEEE SONG!
