Liner Notes:

Last of the superskirmishes for now. Love these. Great prompt: CONCLUSION (Anything to do with an ending, a finish, closure, a finale, a termination. You get the drift.) The first thing I thought of was The Beatles "The End" but had to put that out of my mind!!

Lyrics:

V1:
In the beginning
Love's in everything you see
And in the end
Love is stronger than an old oak tree
That's been around for awhile
A knowing simple smile
Roots have grown so deep
When you know it's almost over

CH:
When You Know It's Almost Over
Share a breath and take a look around
Take a final stand on your firm and solid ground
When You Know It's Almost Over

V1:
Keep your heart open
For every possibility
With your eyes open
See the truth that's meant to be
See the star s shining bright
Infinity of light
Prepares you for your sleep
When you know it's almost over

CH:
When You Know It's Almost Over
Share a breath and take a look around
Take a final stand on your firm and solid ground
When You Know It's Almost Over

OUTRO:
Don't give up hope, no, don't give up hope....

The metaphors are so powerful and the lyrics are beautifully poignant. The piano ballad and the gentleness in your vocals are gorgeous. Really moving.

Powerful stuff! Piano really adds to the emotion of your voice and the words. Very moving song. I like it.

This is beautiful! I love the image of the relationship as an old tree in the first verse, and it's so nice for the song to end on such a hopeful note (and with some gorgeous harmonies to boot!) Great skirmish!

That is very beautiful and very emotionally powerful. Love the piano/vocal with the great harmonies at the end.

What a lovely ballad you've put together so quickly. I love the idea of examining what you've built with someone before it has to be torn down - so bittersweet and pretty to listen to.

Catches the mood really well. Forlorn is what i was looking for! I always seem to like those piano ones. Must send you a lyric soon!

Lovely melancholic gentle verse start. The chorus caps it neatly without overwhelming. The understated piano is just lovely [/envy] There's a superb feel of ready-to-let-go-sadly but still a readiness to move on. Nice touch with the harmonies in the outro, too.

Gorgeous words with very fine metaphors like that "old oak tree", the "solid ground" or the "star shining bright". I like the tender melody with the piano and your vocal delivery which conveys that lovely bittersweet feel of this song. I have enjoyed my listen a lot.

Love this. Your vibrato and tone show some deep Neil Young absorption. Since it’s in a lower register, only NY fanatics might appreciate the originality of your synthesis. Great lyrics that are not cliché Laurel Canyon, ‘70s L.A. come-on vulnerability.
