Liner Notes:

Wow - I'm not pulling the punches tonight. Trigger warning - alludes to childhood trauma.

Prompt was Statement

Lyrics:

Lost in an introspection
From listening to a song
Where the writer sang the words
I couldn’t find
I tend to look back more
As the years roll along
Wondering what happened
To my mind

Psychosocial disinfection
In the talking chair too long
Telling all the same old
Verbal histories
Was I drinking enough water
And doing my exercise
And required time in prayer
On my knees

Who holds the gavel in this courtroom
Where’s the verdict to set me free
How many times do I make my statement
When the only one who remembers is me

Poverty and isolation
Gender inequality
They try to tell me the blame
Was never mine
But no one ever listened
And no one tried to help
Even though things were
Never fine

Feeling much exhaustion
Not knowing where to turn
By the bootstraps I pull
And I going
Life rewards the guilty
And punishes the child
Who learns to keep the trauma
From showing

Who holds the gavel in this courtroom
Where’s the verdict to set me free
How many times do I make my statement
When the only one who remembers is me

Wow. I'm right there in the 'courtroom'. Very sad that things like this happened and probably still do. Well done on the skirmish.

Wow, great powerful write at anytime especially for a skirmish. I too really love Psychosocial disinfection, that chorus is super strong too. Great stuff!

Wow indeed. This grabs and bites, almost savages in its despair.

Trauma seems cathartically used here, really good and straight to the bone!

Sorry if this is based on personal experience. You evoke the courtroom and the traumatised child vividly.
