The Ferryman

Demo:

Liner Notes:

This song is based on a character in Siddhartha a book by Herman Hesse - highly recommended read.

Lyrics:

The Ferryman:

The shoreline moves too fast, and the leaves between the trees won’t come to rest,
Ripples rising hard upon the edges of these banks.
I feel a little ease, that I will not protest.

If you could feel a single finger snap, or touch the edges of the rivers as they lap
Or know when the hawk will raid your favourite Winter nest
Keep a watchful eye seeking to protest.

Chorus:
And I don’t understand why they never asked the man,
The only man who should have been be believed.
The aged Ferryman, with heavy calloused hands,
Knows the price one pays just to be believed.

Familiar are his words just like his weathered clothes,
If you love that man then never let it show,
Is it the shore that moves as he gently rows?
As if anybody knows.

And I don’t understand why they never asked the man,
The only man who could ever be believed.
And I don’t understand why they never asked the man,
The only man who could ever be believed.
And I don’t understand why they never asked the man,
The only man who could ever be believed.

Very nice feel to this. Subtle guitar playing and fitting singing style. Unexpected touch when the strings came in but it was very welcome.

There is a version with vocals, this one I loaded without vox by mistake - sorry for confusion.
