We Were Almost There

Liner Notes:
Wednesday skirmish - fantastic prompt Amanda! Happy go get my first song in tank.
Lyrics:
V1:
Started out so much to see
And better than I ever thought it could be
The journey wore us down
As we moved from town to town
We lost ourselves and were no longer free
CH:
We Were Almost There
But we never arrived
Went down the hole
To the other side
We were lost in space and
Lost in silence
Disappeared
We Were Almost There
But we never had
A destination
From this launching pad
Of life
So we kept on moving
Anyway
V2:
Time began to change its groove
Even so we continued to move
The scenery had changed
The world seemed rearranged
Nothing we could ever improve
CH:
We Were Almost There
But we never arrived
Went down the hole
To the other side
We were lost in space and
Lost in silence
Disappeared
We Were Almost There
But we never had
A destination
From this launching pad
Of life
So we kept on moving
Anyway

I loved this as soon as it opened. But I melted into my seat at the harmonised chorus.

This is a great song, especially so as a skirmish.
Amazing sound - and harmonies - and SciFi lyric - for a skirmish. This is great! I enjoyed my listen!
Good to see you. Nice harmonies, strong guitar sound, very nice skirmish
Wow! That chorus will stick with me for a long time! What an amazing song!
Gorgeous! I love the chorus so much, that chord progression is to die for. I could keep listening to this all day. Awesome work!
Lovely! The musical energy gives a light touch to the melancholy lyrics - the overall effect is world-weariness rather than sadness. The chorus is fabulous! Terrific skirmishing!
How cool Jeff !!
That first chorus part is great:
"We Were Almost There
But we never arrived
Went down the hole
To the other side"
And your semi jaunty melody and vocal delivery perfectly fits in this the subject.
Wonderful take on the theme
Love the chorus. I can picture this being played as the narrator travels across the world. Very cool.
See You In The Shadows…
Your singing and guitar playing produced a really enjoyable song to listen to. Good lyric too!
wow!!! I love musically (and lyrically) what you've done here, those chorus vocals are just a gem, and the whole thing goes down so easy and has that wonderfully jaunty and 'almost free' quality that adds so much.. great song! and performance!
i was late to this skirmish but did something, just posted...
Beautiful, positive song, instantly likable, a pleasure to listen to. What a lovely take on a skirmish prompt!
I LOVE the harmonies! This one is really catchy but also has a good amount of depth to it. Great use of the prompt, this is a solid song skirmish or not but even more impressive given the time constraint.
I love this! Great lyrics and so well put together! lovely guitar and harmonies
Super nice. I can't help mentioning that it reminds me of some stuff by Belle & Sebastian. Hope you don't dislike them--I love 'em and mean it as a compliment!
Ahh another delicious Jeff guitar/melody/harmony combo… and you did this in a skirmish?! So much talent
Yes, what a beautiful song. With harmony. Amazing to get this in a skirmish.
That chorus!! "The launching pad of life" - love that. Great concept of always being "almost there", but never quite.
