1/50--Room With A View (Rob Lincoln Song #681)

Liner Notes:

Each song this year with few or any exceptions will be loosely inspired by another song, though it may sound nothing like it. This one is inspired by Al Stewart's Broadway Hotel.

Lyrics:

#681---Room With A View © by Rob Lincoln 2021
(Capo 2)

Intro: Em (lift 3rd finger) C C (lift 2nd finger) D C 2x

Em C C (lift 2nd finger) D C
She returned again another day
D C C (lift 2nd finger)

Saw the shadow that was you
But no she did not want to get away
But rather start anew

(different melody, same chords)
She tried to smile she tried to laugh
Falling forward into the past
She tried so hard to make it last
Plain C

But it was no longer you

Chorus
F E F E
On the Spanish Riviera
There were two senoritas
A C D A
And one is so blue
A C D E
Checking out of the room with a view

Warm breezes once soothed her soul
Now push foul damp misty air
The sun became instead a bright black hole

Water dripped ugly from her hair

She tried to find a way to stay
Tried to find a way to say
Tried to find a yesterday

But only tomorrow you would hear

love how comfortable you play your guitar groove and the way it sounds. The pause inbetween sections also makes you catch up to the song

You know this line struck me curious: "Water dripped ugly from her hair..." I am captivated by that. It's cool. It works in the context of this great tune you've composed, but man - what a line! This is going to inspire something I'm sure.
