Liner Notes:

Just saw the prompt and the song wrote itself in a few minutes

Lyrics:

The midnight train oh the midnight train
Climb aboard if you dare
Take you to dreamland
I wish that I was there

Going nowhere on the midnight train
Wheels rattling on the track
Wish I knew where we are going
Direction is what we lack

Cutting through the tunnel
Running down the dale
If you get on early
Its impossible to fail

The midnight train oh the midnight train
Climb aboard if you dare
Take you to dreamland
I wish that I was there

It don’t have no driver
Doubt it will be home soon
Sliding slowly onward
Beneath the crimson moon

There is no timetable
Must be there at the right time
Keep our eyes open
Be ready to spot a sign

The midnight train oh the midnight train
Climb aboard if you dare
Take you to dreamland
I wish that I was there

When you wake in the morning
You vaguely remember the train
Hopefully tonight
You can catch it yet again

That is so cool, especially the revelation in the last verse... Great take on the prompt

Nice idea. Very well written. Captured a feeling we all hope for. That we catch the midnight train. Nice.

I like that last verse/stanza. It brings it all home. What a great angle to write from.

I was working on a Midnight Train lyric, pre50/90, trying to shoehorn into a melody, also dream related, but I hit the wall with it.

You've said in a quick write what I was struggling with. Ha. Nice job.

I like your take on Midnight Train, mysterious, even ghostly. Good write.

Challenge accepted... Love to do some music for this lyric. Oh I can hear it already, such imagery. Very evocative Smile
