My mate just told me that Dusty Hill died last Wednesday! I don't know how i missed that! At his Death ZZ top were the longest running band with only their original members. They certainly carved out their niche in Rock history!

Make all the music you can, while you can.

- Stop the bullshit; do it.

They really did!! Knew who they were and were loud and proud about it - killer band!! Was the first concert I ever went to - 1974. Rory Gallagher was the opening act. I'll never forget the amazing sound and the rock'n'roll attitude that those guys had!

I saw them years ago. He was fun to watch. Stood sideways and moved his knees to look like he was runnin'.

Very sad to hear of his passing. It made me go back and listen to some of their earlier stuff from the 1970s, which is fantastic.

On a side note, Billy Gibbons' fairly recent solo album, The Big Bad Blues, is sensational. Hopefully he can keep himself healthy for a good few more years

Didn't hear about this until right now from this thread. They always seemed to be having a great time! Gotta admire a guy that gets on stage with a big fluffy bass Biggrin

What amazing eulogies "He was fun to watch. Stood sideways and moved his knees to look like he was runnin'" :
"Gotta admire a guy that gets on stage with a big fluffy bass"
I guess that's what happens when you play bass! Biggrin
I discovered them when they recorded Tres Hombres and adored them till Recycler.
I reckon with a trio all three are crucial elements. Dusty Hill was a third of that fabulous sound.

I still find it funny (ironic?) that the only guy in the band that didn't have a beard (tho, he sported a great 'stache) was named Beard. Frank Beard, the drummer. Go figure Lol

R.I.P. Dusty. You'll be driving classic hot rods with leggy angels up in the great gig in the sky. You'll be missed.

See You In The Shadows…

Heard the news the following day. They were a great band! Great doc about them on netflix or amazon!
