OK, I know there's a few Anime fans in the FAWM-50/90 community. So shout out to you!

What Anime series are you watching right now? What series do you want to watch next? What is your all-time favourite series?

For me, I've gotten into Mars Red recently. I'm loving the story so far & can't wait to see how it develops.

Next series? Not sure, I'll have to see what's out there.

Space Pirate Captain Harlock - the original from the late 70's. I mean, I watched it as a kid & it laid the foundation for my love of Anime.

See You In The Shadows…

This season I've kept up with Super Cub and Nagatoro. Super Cub is great, wholesome and presents a rather realistic friendship dynamic. To me Nagatoro is barely enjoyable standard grade fluff.

I've been rewatching Lucky Star as well. Loving that. I first saw it 8 years ago and I didn't fully get it at the time but I always liked Kagami as a character. I'm enjoying it more this time. Slice Of Life is my favorite genre, especially these more mundane series about small things in daily life. Mecha is my homenase and it's the most exciting anime for me.

I was blasting through Gundam shows all of last year and up until recently. The last two I watched were Victory (loved it!) and The 08th MS Team (pretty good).

My top 10 anime are...
- Gurren Lagann
- Full Metal Panic!
- K-On!
- White Album 2
- Clannad
- Shakugan no Shana
- Dragon Ball Z
- A Place Further Than The Universe
- Mobile Fighter G Gundam
- Hibike! Euphonium

Most recently I finished the first season and movie of Demon Slayer, and got all caught up on Castlevania(which was surprisingly good since people can't seem to adapt anything from a video game very well).

I wouldn't really consider Love, Death, and Robots anime, but there are a few done in an anime style(they're all just animated shorts in various styles) but the first two seasons of that are pretty great.

I enjoy this thread. I've added a lot of shows to my crunchyroll queue from the last one. And I see the familiar names here from the last thread, too.

What Anime series are you watching right now?
Re: Zero
Gintama
My Hero Academia
Finally got HBO thingy so i started My Neighbor Totoro cause everybody seems to love it. I'm still getting used to the older art style, but it has me intrigued with the 30 or so minutes i've seen of it so far.

What series do you want to watch next?
Castlevania, now that dzd has brought it back to my memory.
Cells At Work

What is your all-time favourite series?
Wow...i don't think i can name just one...but I'll try for the sake of the post. Something that has comedy that I like, great action, likable characters, nice visuals...hmm...One Punch Man.
There's so many that I truly love. But yeah, I love that stupid show.

Anime I'm watching right now:
- Ascendance of a Bookworm
- Fruits Basket

I'm enjoying both of these a lot so far! Ascendance of a Bookworm has impressed me with its ability to make business negotiations feel as tense and skillful as a physical fight, it's fun to see the characters interacting and making friends, and such a storybook type of fantasy world is always just a fun setting to play around in.

Want to watch next:
- Kono Oto Tomare!: Sounds of Life

I've been slowly working my way through the top-rated Music genre shows on MAL, and this one's the next on my list. Previous series I finished was Kids on the Slope, which is about love and jazz, very artsy and with a great soundtrack, I highly recommend it.

Some of my favorite series:
- The World God Only Knows
- My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!
- Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun
- Akagami no Shirayukihime!

It's really hard to commit to picking even just a handful of favorites since there are so many good anime out there, but here are a few of the shows I've loved and found myself coming back to re-watch over the years. To call out one of these, The World God Only Knows is fun in that it somehow manages to successfully pull off a "monster of the week" structure built out of otome game-esque romance plots, plus its opening song is really cool and unique.

@splittybooms I always forget about One Punch Man. I've never seen more than bits of it, but did like what little I've seen. So going to have to put that on next to watch list.

Since the last time we had one of these threads, I've gotten a CrunchyRoll subscription. I'm not sure what took me so long. I've always been a sucker for sf+f and there's more in anime than I can get in other streaming services.

I'm just scanning my CrunchyRoll history, so all this is stuff I've watched since April when I got it. I'm roughly sorting these according to how much I liked them.

I'm a sucker for some Isekai:

- My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!
- Do You Love Your Mom and Her Two-Hit Multi-Target Attacks?
- Ascendance of a Bookworm
- Didn't I say to make my abilities average in the next life
- The 8th Son? Are you kidding me?
- In Another World With My Smartphone
- KONOSUBA -God's blessing on this wonderful world!
- How Not to Summon a Demon Lord

I'm still working through:

- I've been killing slimes for 300 years and maxed out my level
- So I'm a spider, so what?
- That time I got reincarnated as a slime
- Isekai Cheat Magician

Other things I've enjoyed:

- Kiss Him, Not Me
- Comic Girls
- Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid
- Elegant Yokai Apartment Life
- Eromanga Sensei
- Gamers!
- I Couldn’t Become a Hero, So I Reluctantly Decided to Get a Job
- Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?
- Overlord
- The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter
- Love To-LIE-Angle
- Akashic Records of Bastard Magic Instructor

Some other things I'm working on and planning to finish:
- Ms. Koizumi Loves Ramen Noodles
- Laid-Back Camp
- Midnight Occult Civil Servants
- Monster Girl Doctor
- The Ancient Magus' Bride

I think there's some stuff I've watched (or will probably finish) that I just glanced over looking at my "Watched" list, so this isn't exhaustive.

I like a lot of anime. At this point, I'm looking at finishing up the series I've already started, but maybe "Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody" because it's an Isekai I've not started yet, and I'm a sucker for isekai. Maybe "Magical Girl Ore" because it looks cute, and I like cute shows.

On a related note... because of "My Next Life as a Villainess" and "Gamers!" I decided to play some visual novels and dating sims. Now, I'm officially an independent game developer, having released my first visual novel on Itch.io.

Currently watching:
Sailor Moon (the old one) - because we missed enough episodes when watching it on broadcast TV as kids that the show just didn't make sense, and we want to fill in those gaps.
Dororo (the new one) - because I love the live-action movie (which my brother saw in theatres in Japan and bought for me on DVD when he came home).
The Legend of Korra?? - American anime?? Maybe??

Theoretically still watching but it's been an awfully long time since I last watched an episode:
That time I got reincarnated as a slime - started because the title is hilarious, stayed for the badass making-friends-with-monsters, stopped because someone disconnected the device we were watching it on from the TV.
The Real Ghostbusters?? - I know this is an American show, but I am/was watching it for the animation, which was outsourced to Asia and it shows.
Fruits Basket (not sure which version, we kind of picked at random) - because everybody liked the manga.
Some other stuff I would have to look at my Netflix to remember the names of.

All-time favorites:
I feel like I'm so fond of all the ones I've watched that I would have to list them all. But I'm not going to, that's way too many.

By the way, who's watching Korean dramas and such? Or is that too far off-topic? I just wonder how much the fanbases overlap. I just finished Mr. Sunshine and started Ghost Bride (which isn't Korean but I'm sure Netflix recommended it because the whole family's been hooked on Korean shows lately, including my 95-year-old grandmother who has probably never seen one in her life before the past year or so).

"Space Pirate Captain Harlock - the original from the late 70's. I mean, I watched it as a kid & it laid the foundation for my love of Anime."

Oh yeah. When I lived in France as a young child, there was this Albator 84 on TV. Super cool. Back then I didn't see the whole series. And as you mention, it had already started in the 70s, with Albator 78. Then there was no anime on Finnish TV. A few years ago I decided to watch more of that. Some of it I could find on Youtube. Then I watched Queen Millennia and Space Symphony Maetel.

I don't know that much about anime but my brain likes to hear some French and see stuff from childhood now and then. I'd still like to watch the entire series Albator 78 and Albator 84 and Galaxy Express 999. In the old TV series format, dubbed in French. Biggrin

Space Symphony Maetel has very nice intro music. I believe Michel Legrand would approve. He created the music for Barillé's "Il était une fois... l'espace" (Once Upon a Time... Space).

Haven't had a chance to watch Space Synphony Mætel, I should look that one up - as well as the Albators. I just finished Cosmo Warrior Zero & really enjoyed all the ties-ins with the rest of the Leijiverse (Harlock, Galaxy Express, &c…). I'm wondering if there's a second season I can find somewhere because there's still some open story lines & some unanswered questions… Will have to look into that. Is Il était une fois…l'espace an animated movie/series?

See You In The Shadows…

Albator is simply Captain Harlock in the French speaking world.

"Is Il était une fois…l'espace an animated movie/series?"

Oh yeah, an animated TV series (not anime). And the theme is a superb disco track. Here sung in English:

"I just finished Cosmo Warrior Zero & really enjoyed all the ties-ins with the rest of the Leijiverse (Harlock, Galaxy Express, &c…)."

I'll keep that in mind. The Leijiverse is vast!

"Sailor Moon (the old one) - because we missed enough episodes when watching it on broadcast TV as kids that the show just didn't make sense, and we want to fill in those gaps. ...
Theoretically still watching but it's been an awfully long time since I last watched an episode"

So I've got exactly the same situation here with Captain Harlock.
