INFLUENCES:A lot of diverse quality (and sometimes quirky) input does not equal quality output :( [sigh] ... maybe some quirky output though :D My father's random chilling-out-after-work piano improvisations on anything and everything, Pete Seeger, Louis Armstrong, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen, Pink Floyd, Stephen Cummings, Paul Kelly, Renee Geyer, Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings, Tex Perkins (who also did a brilliant tip-of-the-hat to Johnny Cash show called The Man in Black)... oh for goodness sake... too many... I give up...

I am Julie from FAWM -- and simpsons_donkey, the owner/moderator of text-based Yahoo Groups mothership 50songs90days (members of which decided to keep it in cyberspace as an alternate web universe with wormholes for space-time travel).
The arts of all sorts stir me and I have dabbled in many as an extreme amateur. Music was my earliest and most profound experience. I always wanted to be an artist of some sort but was discouraged very early because "You can't make a living that way!" At around nine years of age, I took that as gospel. So instead of singing for my supper, I tutor senior English privately and teach literacy in schools.
I have four wonderful, at times exasperating, adult (over 21) children...
After thinking grandparenthood would not be my lot in life, my son and his wife who were expecting twins around November 2010, had very premature bubs. One has survived with medical and developmental challenges at the present time. I think it is unlikely I will be able to get involved with FAWM activities... but you never know!
All the best with the 5090 Challenge, you wonderful songsmiths and experimental musicmeisters.
Cheers,
Julie
PS: I have recently developed an active interest in genealogy and noting the historical forces at work in ancestral lives and decisions to migrate or stand for or against particular ruling powers. There are many stories lurking in the shadows of these searches. Maybe it's just another expression of my inner nerd.
