INFLUENCES:This year I have mostly been listening to Autopsy, Hail Of Bullets, old Morbid Angel, Watain and Eastern Front, and waiting desperately for the new Anthrax album. Because if "Fight Em Till You Can't" is anything to go by, it's going to be utterly awesome.

I'm on a massive "Woo-yeah!" high from FAWMstock, and have returned to Holland with a notebook crammed full if ideas. If all goes to plan then recording will begin in a few days time and a clutch of new bouncy collabs will arrive. Woo-yeah!

First I had to look up coulrophobe (new word, yay!). And then I laughed. I tried to put as many warning tags on the song as I could. Maybe I should add 'phobia' and 'clowns', too. Sorry for the nightmares!

Now I have to assure you that without the autotuning you would have enjoyed the Borg song a whole lot less. Katy Perry's range is a lot higher than mine and I really butchered those vocals. Kristian fixed it all up nice and pretty... and android-like. ;)

Oh yes, and about the fair folk.. We've had an understanding between us for a long time now, similar to an uneasy truce at times. ;)

I'm a folklore enthusiast, too. I collect books of folktales from different cultures around the world, particularly of Celtic origin. I specialized in Celtic Studies at university, and it was a passion before and has been ever since. I have a bookcase of books!

So I meant it when I said that Celtic mythology could stand up to Nordic if set to metal. There's loads in there to keep you busy! :D

I thought New Model Army sounded familiar.. as soon as the vocals kicked in, I said, Justin Sullivan!! Love that man's work. My favourite album of his is Navigating By the Stars. You're right, there's a brilliantly uplifting nature to White Light. I think that's characteristic of Sullivan's work overall. I covered Ghost Train last 50/90. It's a beautiful song. :)

Thats a serious guitar tone you have there - love to know what the guitar/amp is. And the drums are totally believable. I really don't know the genre well enough to have come out with anything like this. I love the way the guitars are insistent whilst the vocal rhythms move around. And you managed to give it sections and shape that frankly I had left out of the words.

I think I might be grinning all week and wearing an 'I rocked with Sapient' t-shirt.

Thanks for commenting on Demons - I have been messing around with this but not happy with the results so far. I had actually been wondering whether to ask if you wanted to collaborate, and since you've noticed them... fancy having a go? I was putting the 'perhaps' central and the rest being multiple voices like demons speaking into alternate ears. But feel free to do what you like.

thanks for the comment(s) on "Cheese Grater Society" - not sure if you had the same trouble as Kevin Emmrich with it cutting out early but the full version is now uploaded with two notes corrected in the harmony part of the guitar solo (you'll appreciate the problem: silly me recorded the harmony with the bass muted and harmonised all in one key forgetting that the bass changes chord!)

I don't usually plug my own song on a soundboard comment, but I checked out your 'This Life Denied' track and saw it was your competitive answer to Das' 'I Am Definied by My Failures'. I wrote this track the other day: http://fiftyninety.fawmers.org/songs/8091 It's at 300bpm (actually, drum beats are 150bpm, played doubletime). I feel like the junior varsity kid egging on the all-pros, but I thought I'd through it out there. Rock on!

FYI, DAW is really set to 280 BPM on that track, but I think it's likely just a 140 BPM track at double time. The riffing is probably quarter notes at 280, but the feel is eighth notes.

Thank you very much for your comment Sapient! I'm not sure if I'm too familiar with the production of Green Carnation, A-ha or The Sisters Of Mercy, but might have heard them. At least I know one song from A-ha :) Don't no where I got the influences.
