De nada! I'll definitely be around in February.

Thank you for taking the time to listen and comment on my "Funked". :)

You're one of the people I've dedicated this one to! It's my last entry for this year. :)

But hold off on making me a collab on it just yet - I want to hit 50 more or less legitimately. :)

Thanks for listening and thanks for your comments on "Leap of Faith."

I wanted you to do the solo at the end of A Question - you want a copy without my horrid mess?

:)

RC, I was going to ask you to do the floyd-ish guitar at the end of a Question Answered.

Dang, you are a brilliant, brilliant man.

Drums are just slapped together in Orion, using one of the sample sets that come with the software. Not even mixed, just a stereo track rendered and exported. I am so lazy.

http://www.synapse-audio.com/

Orion is an interesting piece of software -- it's totally and unrelentingly loop-based. so pasting in a midi groove and then just cutting and pasting a few blocks of it is really easy. I really am quite lazy. It doesn't handle audio recording well, however, so I use other things for that.

You've been addled, uh, I mean, added. :)

Comment by RC
Both are true. I'd hoped to work on it this morning but couldn't get my lazy ass out of bed...

Hi,

Sorry you've had to wait so long, but I've just now uploaded a demo for 'Night Light', if you're still interested. :)

Hope you enjoy it,

Shady

hey, i'll share any chord voicings you're curious about rc! i just don't like worrying about what i look like and i am vain which is why, truthfully, i haven't video-ed myself this year!! ;)

Hiya rc! Yeah, the uke goes a little bipolar in my hands - lol. Thanks for your feedback on Black Highway, much appreciated :)

Thanks for your comment on "Anything You Want". I've got the demo up now: http://fiftyninety.fawmers.org/songs/10904

Never seen the Q live. Steve Ferguson lived here in Ann Arbor for many years, and I never saw him either. Sad. I've kind of lost track of them since Big Al left, but I have some friends who are fanatical about Johnny Spampinato's guitar playing, so I guess I should pay attention.

I think I've see RT double digit times, and maybe Gregson and Collister were close. I don't go to see live acts much any more, except friends and open mics and little bar bands. Which could be cool: I saw REM, totally by accident, on one of their very first tours, in a bar with about six people in it, and paid no attention because I had just had a fight with my girlfriend and was drunkenly complaining about her.

I am... lukewarm on Camper, but NRBQ are as gods to me so that's nice to hear.

*goes to add Terry, Joey and Big Al to the big list o' influences*

Esp. if they involve guitar solos. :)

Herbert bless it, RC. you should embrace any ideas you have. Always.

'Mildly Proggy', that's wonderful! Now I finally have a genre I can use for those mp3 tags ... thanks a mil!

Fear not, Herbert, lettuce and peas be upon him, cannot die, and like Sherlock Holmes will reappear when least expected. IN any case, the story line is writing itself out of order. He still hasn't slain the great bull of heaven to rescue Enkidu, for example. :)

Wow, you're like my separated at birth twin. I loved Any Trouble too--too bad I can't play vinyl any more. I saw Clive play with RT a few times, and then with Christine Collister many times. Comparing you to him is a serious compliment coming from me.

I think we'd have a good time comparing record collections. :)

RC, thank you for the compliment on "Drive", it's really appreciated! Billy did a good job putting a tune to those words. I've been listening to your music, too, lately and I really like that last one "You Killed It". Have a great Sunday!

Thanks so much for your comments and suggestions on "circle of sisters" - you 're so right about the difficulty of mixing synth sounds with real instrument recordings - I so easily lose perspective on this and feel overwhelmed about what to change (and how). Grateful Thor your specific suggestions, I will try them all!

Thank you for your great comments on Sparrows. I felt that timeless feeling when Tom sent it to me, but hadn't really put it into words. :)) I'll be back to listen to some of yours as soon as I can (sitting in Starbucks and running out of battery, lol!)

Thank you, RC, I think I get crappy guitar tones. FWIW, this was a 1982 USA made original Fender Bullet -> Carr Mercury -> Rode NT5 -> UA LA-610 -> MOTO 828 mkII...hehe...a 150 dollar student plank of a guitar into a fairly expensive recording chain... :)

I`d like to thank you very much for your profound occupion pretaining to "I don`t hurry" and for your constructive suggestions! I really liked them. Already when have been writing the lyrics, "left me" and "went away" disturbed me a bit in the same line, yet I do not know what Rod is going to do concerning this or if he`ll keep it... Thank you very much at any rate!

:D Like I said, I've got 'Breaking the Ice' and also 'Running out of Time', which I love too. You make awesome tracks ^.^

cool! you're a collaborator. :-)
I changed it from "car park" to "motel room", it works better conceptually anyway. Thanks! :-) Also, i quite like some of the suggestions people made in the song comments, so feel free to take those comments on board when you're doing the song.

Hiya RC :)
Thanks forthe kind words on "under the Influence". Honestly, I hadn't planned on expanding it and didn't mean for it be a teaser, was more about getting what was in my head out of my head so I could sleep. In saying that though, the demand seems to be there for an expanded story on "wash scrub &mask", I may just have to make it happen. Any ideas?

Hi RC,

you can have first dibs on that song. Would you like me to add you as a collaborator now and you can upload in your own time, or would you prefer to wait and see if you have time to do the song before i add you on the page?

Thanks so much for multiple comments with such kind works! I see you picked out both of my "social commentary" songs. Glad you liked them and thanks for listening.

Thank you very much for your kind comment! Again Billy put wonderful music to some of my simple words...

Thank you for all your nice comments! Keep up the good work!

ThumbJam is pretty cool. There's quite a lot of depth there, loops, instruments, scales, effects. I haven't figured out how to set it to a particular key yet though. But I think you could really do a lot with it.

Caught you on the podcast. Thumbs up.

Thanks for the comments on "I can't see tomorrow". Much appreciated. I get what you are saying about the melody - I would agree. Something to look at later. Thanks.

You are most welcome, RC. I truly like that song quite a bit. It's a fave from 50/90 2011 already.

I agree about guitarin'--good ears beats fast fingers any day. Speaking of which, I listened to a bunch of your songs, here and on your web site. You are truly excellent. That kind of melodic guitar pop is exactly what I aspire to make, most days.

Thank you again for your super kind words! :)

Wow! Natalie Merchant? You are way too kind RC :) Thanks for the lovely feedback on 60 Butterflies! ...and I do love the Smiths, in moderation ;)

Herbert is pleased. You will be rewarded 1000 fold.

Wow, being compared to Johnny Marr...OK (though my guitar playing is more like Johnny Marr, in the burn ward, heavily sedated, with bandages on his hands). As for hot dogs... not at dawn, I'm afraid. I'm really more of a danish at brunch kind of duellist, probably.

Seriously, although I'm not much of a Smiths fan (I am mopey enough without Morrissey's help), I do love that glossy, super-clean chimey guitar sound. I wonder how he got that.
