Soundboard

First timer - Gonna shoot for 20 songs this 50/90, open to collabs

41 songs to go you can make it! Oh wait, it's already October 5th.

p.s. don't forget to show up at your web site...

Thanks for the comments on Roadkill Matt, I head my head down going for the line which hopefully explains a) my really lofi demos and b) why I took so long in getting back to say thanks :)

Just got back from out of town, with spotty internet access, but...

Thank you *so* much for the plug and the incredibly kind words on your blog, Matt! Very much appreciated!

Nice Groove, very well performed. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the comments, Matt! I have restricted myself to acoustic stuff for 50/90, but I knew I'd have to crank it up at some point. It felt good.

And that is a mandolin doing the octave part. Love the mando - wish my clubby fingers could play it better...

I just listened to your song Never Be Silent, Awesome in a word! Thanks 4 sharing your faith!

New edit will be up when it's done converting and uploading to fileden

Oh, and thanks for the comment on my ExC bit too--since what Roddy sent me was more or less just a found sound collage, that's kind of what I had to build on, and it seemed like a good excuse to learn how to work with loops a bit.

Comment by Matt Blick
well you did a great job

Matt, your section of the exquisite corpse (assuming I've parsed it right) is pretty great. Really hot guitarin'.

Comment by Matt Blick
assuming you have - thanks!

You are the man...I like the new mix woooooooooooooo

Comment by Matt Blick
thank you Sir!

Exquisite corpse file in the mail for you sir.

No, it's really only one droning chord, and if you hear anything other than that, I suspect an auditory hallucination. :) (You are correct, of course, since there are all sorts of suspensions and whatnot going on, but even all those other one chord songs have that sort of thing going on...except for, perhaps, Electric Avenue, perhaps...)

Comment by Matt Blick
I am prone to hallucinations!

Here's the recording of "With You Behind Me" that used the dice to pick the chords. http://fiftyninety.fawmers.org/songs/9129 I thought of the commissioner band to be Roxy Music, since they shelved their recent album due to dissatisfaction with the sessions. Today, I saw a 2011 new release by them called "Manchester Manifesto" and hoped the record finally had came out, mais alas, it was yet another hits compilation.

Thanks for coming by to try and listen. :/ It should work, dunno why it didn't. Here's a direct link if that is any better:

Thanks for your comments on 'You Gotta Wonder'- funnily enough, I wrote a bridge a few days ago, just haven't got 'round to re-recording.

Comment by Matt Blick
Excellent!

Heya, thanks for comments.. I am new to garageband and its taking me a while to get my head around.. also I'm a bit lazy with getting things perfectly in tune and in time which makes it sound sloppy and unprofessional! I'm worried that you can id the loops though!

I'm sorry about the offending word in, pray for you.. buts its not 4 letters and I guess I was trying to be current.. and pop music these days is a bit like that..

I saw your Beatles blog.. amazing stuff. I wish I had time to study longer.. I could put Beatles chords in my songs! I have the "songwriting secrets of the Beatles" which is very complicated - I'm saving reading it for a treat when I have some more time. Have you seen that book? It goes through each trick they use in depth..

keep on with the music :D

You Goon! : ) I've got it on a piece of paper! Thanks for the time and consideration, agree with your time traveller comment.

'In an alternative universe your record company is pushing for this to be the first single off your album'

Haha! Yeah, that song is a little more major key. But you know, in 5/4 so I'm not being toooo pop.

I was more attempting to rip off Radiohead without sounding to Radiohead.

Scott Bradley too - as in Tom and Jerry composer? Awesome!

Ah interesting to read It Bites in your influences. A criminally under-appreciated band. Probably because first single "Calling All The Heroes" (chosen by the record company probably) was totally unrepresentative of their output. I didn't like that song. Next thing I heard by them was "Once Around The World" (song) which rather changed my perception! And Frank Dunnery - what an incredible guitarist.

Thanks, again, Matt! Alchemy and Reaktor. :) Two beautiful instruments.

Again, thanks for the listens and the comments, Matt! I'm about to break my rule about using the same set-up...given that I've had zero time in the last 5 days to record...might have to do some electronica at the office or something, to keep the numbers up! :)

Hey, Matt! Yep, not only one day, that one took about 90 minutes. I've got my work-flow down. Turn on, hit record, play guitar. Thank you so much for the nice comments!

Sorry man, completely forgot about that, I've been run off my feet for the last few months and havent got round to doing anything, but I'll get on the case.... Not sure ill even get close to 50, but if i can churn out another albumsworth, I'll be happy!!

all the best
Stu

Hi Matt, thank you for the lovely comment, look forward to hearing your material.

You made it! (After reading your blog I wondered if you would join the club). I'm glad you did + nice pic! (is it an historical Ipod you're holding?).

Sounds like a plan! Good to see you too. :)
