Based in the suburbs of Madison, WI, the Das Binky Recording Collective consists of Guy Named John, and a revolving cast of people willing to sing, play, write and dance with Guy Named John.

Now in his 3rd 50/90, the DBRC continues its plan for global domination with another batch of bizarrely varied pop / metal / country tunes.

Das Binky has never met a song that couldn't use another several dozen tracks of overproduced guitar, keyboard or harmony vocals. Toys are fun. Though I'll be trying to fight this impulse now and then this year.

The Das Binky Recording Collective actually has a set of ethos. Cause that's the way we roll.

1. Large Production Numbers are Awesome
2. Catchiness = Awesomeness
3. Genre Hopping leads to interesting new discoveries
4. Collaboration opens interesting new doors

I have modest goals for this 50/90. Write a few songs, focus on electronica, collab a lot and do some corpses.

Thanks for all the comments Binky! You're wonderful! And thank you for driving the car that inspired the whole zombie song in the first place :p You did survive, because you ran back to the states, and we got stuck at the border.

I did write that punk (sorta) song about gardening a couple days ago and even used a couple of the lines we had going. I'll be recording at some point this week, I hope, and I'll yell for help if I can't punk it up enough.

Hey Das. Thanks for the YouRock guitar link. I just had to replace my Rock Band drumkit (which I use with XPadder to trigger EZDrummer), so I'll have to wait on picking that up for a bit. My way of playing the drums is less grace and more smash'. There comes a point where duct tape, metal brackets, and hope can only do so much to hold things together.

Also, judging by your 'mancave' pics, I think you and I have the same (or similar) Ibanez Artcore. I'm a big fan of that guitar.

I have been listening to your songs and I`d like to tell you I like this style a lot... Beautiful melodies, fantastic performance!! We should do some bluegrassy stuff on purpose this summer. I heard an NPR interview yesterday with Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings and it made me yearn, which is exactly the right approach!

Yeah, but see, what I've now done is set my DAW at 281bpm and let rip. I'll need to gaffer-tape my picking hand back on and let the wounds heal, but it's given me 2/3 of a new tune. So thank you ;)

Just finished my very first micro-economics course, starting my first macro course in three weeks time along with the dreaded business stats course... But plenty of opportunity for us to satisfy the demand in that uncornered area of the market for 'songs about economics'. :P
