BIO:

Gah, I really need to edit and clean up this box.

I also have a song that I'm going to post as soon as the exquisite corpse is done--my part of the song was originally a song in itself before I cut it down to size to fit in the game.

But for the record, just about everything I've done since song nine, up until "run away", has been adapted/inspired by my most recent NaNoWriMo novel. So I suppose it's a concept album. And, now that I suppose I've finished it, here's the order of the tracks:

1) two years
2) six feet under
3) nothing happy today
4) things and memories
5) someone like you, someone like me
6) i want to know / a cold and drowsy humor
7) ghosts (part one: voices in my head / part two: guy fawkes)
8) jasper
9) peace and war
10) in my defense / stay with me
11) i cried myself to sleep last night
12) tetraplegia
13) run away
14) the vanilla sky
15) gabriel's horn
a) the beginning of the end
b) i ran, and then i ran some more
c) lies, lies, lies
d) delirium
e) in the lake tonight
f) i'm worthless
g) hyperventilating
h) the air's grown cold, and there's nothing you can do
i) i don't know
j) i've got no control
k) the murdering ghost that you cannot ignore
l) nothing will be easy again

OK, for Gabriel's Horn, I've spent about twenty hours on it so far, writing it and recording it and editing it and re-recording it and editing it again and spicing it up and recording it a third time. The song has just snowballed on me, but I like it a lot, though I'm still deciding if it needs a "part zero", which would be a short and simple instrumental opening (similar to Horizons and Supper's Ready). As it is, the twelve parts are already thirty-two and a half plus minutes already.

If you're new to my work, or are looking for something to look at, Gabriel's Horn would be a good place to start. If you don't wanna look at something that big, or have already seen it, or want to know what else to see, I'd recommend the collabs and the ones marked favorite.

For the first time ever, I'm actually making some rough a capella demos of my songs (at least the ones that aren't already done by someone else. If nothing else, they'll give people a sense of how I hear it, so that it's just not lyrics on the page. Though by all means, if I've a demo up, if you wanna record your own version and make it a collab, feel free to. Oh, and sorry for having to hear me sing. :-)

I live in Illinois but go to college in New York.

I listen to a lot of stuff, but it boils down to classic rock, prog rock, and pop rock. With a few exceptions.

Really, most of my songwriting is lyrically. I have very little, if any, musical talent, but I can do lyrics. If anyone wants to record my lyrics with their music, feel free to. Just drop me a note saying that you're going to do it first. Also, I have no problem with you taking liberties with my words to make it fit your music better, and I'm not the kind of person who will be like "but that's not what I pictured". I've had songs done completely differently than I pictured them being done before, but at the same time they've come out just as good as what I had in mind, if not better. So feel free to adapt my lyrics to suit your needs.

I completed FAWM in 2008, 2010, and 2011. I didn't do FAWM in 2009, but I did do (and complete) 50/90 that year. I've also won NaNoWriMo for the last three years. I finished short in 50/90 last year as well.

I also finally created a ReverbNation. Still figuring it out but I'll get it. Anyway it's here: http://www.reverbnation.com/mrwindupbird

CONGRATULATIONS ON REACHING WINNER STATUS!

I haven't been on here in weeks. I have started a new demo which I am feeling is much more appropriate for your lyricising. I will try and get it a bit more developed but failing that I will send it to you Monday (the 19th) since we don't have much time to go. Your lyrics may inspire more of the song...

Oh, and btw, congratulations on the Win :))!!!!

Hi Chris, You commented on Nadia's Enchanted Lake. I finally got the vocal done and posted on it, if you'd still like to hear it :)

Congratulations on reaching Winner status for the 50/90 Challenge!

I know you're well finished 5090 but I promise I will get that instrumental for you to lyricise over done before the end of 5090! I've been super busy with school and a few other things but I do want to get it done.

Hey Chris! I've worked up somewhat of a hip hop like backing track using eleanor rigby, so I think I'm going to chop that up, use bits and pieces from it to finish your "All The Lonely People". Here's what I came up with while trying to conceptualize it in my head: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gi56T-y-0B4&feature=channel_video_title

Congratulations at making 50+ :)!!! Thank you for your comments on Enchanted Lake :) I'm traveling at the moment, but when I lite somewhere long enough I'll be recording the vocal track for Nadia's sweet melody and will I'll let you know when it gets posted.... won't be till next week probably.

Thank you so much for your beautiful comments Chris. Congratulations with winning ! I'll be back for listening and commenting on your songs.

wow, I'd love to hear your whole album once all the songs are recorded.

Congrats on getting to 50 -- that a big accomplishment!!

Hey Chris,
Let me be the first to congratulate you on your win.
I've been following your stuff with interest. Without comments, sorry, but following none the less. You're prolific and consistently interesting.
In the end, numbers don't count, it's the value of the work.
But it's an achievement, and one that many people can only dream of reaching.
Congratulations
wolf.

Hey Chris, I sent you an email :)

"i cried myself to sleep last night" is really speaking to me, I have demo for it if you're interested?

You've gotten up to an awful lot haven't you? :P
Yes, I have an instrumental that's lacking any direction at all with lyrics at the moment. It's not complete but I promise you it will be well before the end of 5090. I'll throw it to you and if it doesn't inspire you then I'll hack at it anyway, but if it does then your name is on it!

Thanks for letting me know about the demos...they're working now (: Very nice.

Demo updated and included in the song. Enjoy. :)

Hope I didn't let you down with my twangin' guitar work on my song "Play Me A Country Song". I haven't dubbed vocals on yet, but they'll be up on the demo by tomorrow, but you can take a listen for now!

The demo for "I won't complain" is coming along quite nicely. The song has basically been written, I've recorded the (simple) instrumental part - I'll do vox tomorrow, hopefully it will be online in 24 hours' time. But don't hold me to that. :)

Thank you for the wonderful comment sir! And rest assured, when my amp shows up tomorrow, that demo's gonna be swimmin' in twangin' tele tone!

I'm glad that someone's reading my tweets. Yours are often amusing. :P

Here's my performance of The Sleeping Hours. Just waiting for your okay to post it as a new song (or add me as a collaborator if you prefer.)

Welcome back Chris! Good luck. :)

read the "help me record thread," and for single track efforts, i'm betting there is a built-in program on your Dell; my hubby-man has one. it's called Sound Recorder. probably a built-in mic too, though not great quality there, but for 20 bucks or a bit more, you can get something to plug in that's better, even a head-phones & mic combo. sorry to clog your page if you knew this already, but so many people don't...

Winter, yes-- seven months of it!

Nano'er here, too. How do like Ithaca compared to your hometown? (saw your post on the WNY thread).

Oh wow you listen to the fall out boys too! Nice bro.
