BIO:

I am a published science fiction/fantasy writer who also loves filk, which is the music of science fiction fandom. Since I'm part of a filk group (Utah Filk Organization, or UFO, http://utahfilk.org), I thought I'd write filk for 50/90. I wrote a few filk for National Poetry Writing Month (NaPoWriMo) in April, and my collaborators are also going to do the 50/90 challenge. I also like ballads and folk music, and have collected them for years, so a few folk songs may sneak in.

Thanks for the Pegasus-related compliment. In spite of being an old guy, chronologically, I still feel like a new kid when it comes to creating music. I wrote my first song 7 years ago; there are people on the ballot who were first *nominated* 22 years ago! :)

I finally got a cheap awful microphone that at least will talk to my computer. So when I have time in the next few days, I hope to get demos of some of my songs up. Believe me, the quality will NOT be stellar. But I hope you'll be able to get an idea of the tunes, and ignore the hiss and wow.

Anyone who would like to read the story on which my song "Gathering Shards" is based, it's available for a short time FREE as an epub at http://callihoo.com/ebooks/Gathering_Shards_Julia_H_West.epub or if you have a Kindle, try http://callihoo.com/ebooks/Gathering_Shards_Julia_H_West.mobi

If you can't read either of these, let me know and I'll see if I can make a pdf version available.

Since this story is now available for sale on Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble's sites, it's no longer available here free.

Thanks, nancyrost! I've used the name for years, because every time I sit or lie down I get covered with cats.

heavy hedonist--thanks! The guidelines for the Snow White poetry said they were especially looking for stories about minor characters, and I made a list of them and thought, "Could I make the magic mirror into a character?" That poem is what happened. I've done NaNoWriMo for three years too. My daughter, who also writes sf and fantasy and is much more of a poet than I, sucked me in and now I love it.

Love the screen name!

i liked your pov on the Snow White poem, Reflections etc... original!
I'm working on a horror/erotica version of the story myself... and i'm surprised i never did NaNoPoMo, since i've been nano-ing three years, which led me here...
it's great fun! I look forward to your filking and folking.
