BIO:

Blue Haint 1 is Bud Harris and anyone else playing music with me is Blue Haint 2, Blue Haint 3, and so on...(collectively, the Blue Haints). I'm part of the music scene in central Alabama, mainly in Montgomery County, but have traveled all around the Southeast U.S. I play guitar, banjo, bass, mandolin, and keyboards. I also attempt singing. I really enjoy playing live, but have even more fun in the studio recording my own music. I participated in my first FAWM this past February and I am looking forward to my first 50/90 challenge. I'm looking forward to some collaborative efforts, too. You comment on my songs and I'll comment on yours, too. I can also be found haunting the halls of the SA forum at this URL: http://www.dragondreams.org.uk/SAforum

Oh yeah, Alabama is celebrating all the good music coming from our beautiful state during 2011. Please come visit Alabama and enjoy it. Visit this website: http://www.yearofalabamamusic.com/

Good luck to all you songwriters, bards, and troubadours! Good luck to me, too!

Soundboard

Come on in my kitchen......

You are very welcome, and thank you for your nice words about my music, I appreciate them a lot :)

Thanks very much for your comments on "Saturday Night". Very much appreciated.

Hey Bud, Gmail seems to be acting funky lately. Anyway, got your reply and sent you the demo. LMK if you don't get it, k? Thanks!

Hey Blue, thank you for sharing your impressions and comments on 'Overboard'. Now you got me running to the Ray Price catalogue! Would you be up for a collab in the future?

Mike

I hear you--I teach college too, and I have been blissfully off since May, but funtime ends next week. Then it's back to the grind.

Glad you're OK--you seemed to have just vanished.

Comment by Blue Haint 1
Nope...I teach summer semester, too.....

Thanks for listening and giving the feedback!

Blue Haint, thanks for your comments! Here is the recording: http://fiftyninety.fawmers.org/songs/10232

Hey :) Guess my emails aren't getting through for some reason. Anyway, just wanted to know if you'd be interested in my taking a stab at Drive. You can either post on my wall or send to seabilly/at/gmail/dot/com :)

Bud, where are you, man?

Hi, sent you an email :)

ha..that was a great comment man thanks....nah i wasn't pissed at all...but were you pissed writing the comment :)... i just play sloppily so thats why i sound drunk.... you have a good lot of stuff done...i'll be back to listen to it very soon ....

Comment by Blue Haint 1
Yes, indeed, pissed I was....

You're going great guns! i am bowing out, as a writer, for the summer; but i'll be listening like crazy. sorry i didn't pick up on the hickory challenge!

Hi, Bud! Sorry I haven't gotten back to you sooner. Thanks for the message about Alabama blues, etc. Really makes me jealous. I have NO such blues-rich environment around me!! Neil Young lived a few blocks from my childhood home in Winnipeg, however (well, he'd already moved to the USA before I was born. But whatever!).

I took a look-see at "Hobo With a Dobro". Wow. Great lyrics. I really doubt that I could do justice to those words. But if I come up with anything, I'll let you know.

Also, I *finally* got around to listening to some of your music and I'm really impressed. I love your sound and style.

Anyway, just reckoned I'd touch base. Cheers!

Hey thanks for all the nice comments. Really glad you liked some of the stuff. It's a pleasure to record and more than double if someone else enjoys it. I have to admit that I don't wear my bowler hat much, but it is still close to hand for those more formal occasions :)

Thank you for letting me know about the link. I haven't decided on what the song should be for Alabama yet. I need to get those creative juices flowing on that topic. :) I'll check out that website.

Totally let me know if your kids (and their friends) like my tunes!! I would love to get them kid-tested!! Thanks for the kind comment.

Thank you very much for your extraordinary kind words! I wish I could do music for living, but there's been zero changes this far, so I guess no USA tours coming for a while:)

If you are still intrested about my "rig", here is some. I use PRS and ESP guitars direct to soundcard and from there just thru "Poulin hybrit" amp plugin and "kefir" impulse loader with "splawn v30" cab impulses. Sometimes add some boost plugin on front or compression or delay or whatever comes to mind. My real rigs are in rehearsal places all over so this is the fastest way to do demoing.

Hey BH1! Thanks again for the listens and the really nice comments. :) Looks like you are cookin' on this challenge! I have some catch-up listening to do...

Thanks for the comment! :)
You're wrong about the lyrics, tho. :D

Comment by Blue Haint 1
Aww, shucks......

Hi, Bud! Hey, thanks for your recent comments about my song "You occupy my mind". Seriously, you are FAR too kind!

You're from Alabama, eh? Some great blues came from there, as I know you're aware! Edward Thompson is among my favourite bluesman. Superb guitarist and to-die-for voice!!

Anyway, I'll definitely give your tunes a listen this week sometime. I have the week off work PLUS we're offloading the kids onto the grandparents for a few nights. Hooray! :-)

Cheers!

Hey, Bud!! What a nice surprise to read your comment on my soundboard that soon, thanks a lot!! The honour is definitely mine, my friend. "Vagabond" is not spoken for by anybody yet, so I would look very, very forward if you gave it a go. I`ve already added you as a collab (I hope you don`t mind ;-) , but take all the time you need and, please, feel free to change the order or parts of the lyrics as you like if you think it is necessary, be it because of the rhythm, be it because of the content...
I`d look very forward if you eventually also gave a go to "Dorothee" - only if you`d like, of course. I do all I can to avoid two or more composers/musicians to take the same lyrics (as I said once on another place, I regard it as a kind of respect for your efforts). "Dorothee" has not "officially" been spoken for yet, the only one who was slightly interested in it was "Swampjaw" with some random music ideas and wanted to give a yell if he was going to put it to music, however, I have not heard anything from him for a while and this was more than 3 weeks ago, so I guess my presumption should be correct he refrained from it. Anyway, it would be only fair if I asked him before I could pass over these lyrics to someone else. "Vagabond" is definitely yours :-) (and thanks a lot for it!!!), but should you eventually be also interested in "Dorothee", please, let me know, so that I could take the necessary measures.
kind regards

Hey Bud, just listened to those songs by the Hollies and Paul Revere - they sound perfect for Sing It Again. I'd be flattered if you wanted to take it in that direction :)

glad you're up for a collab.
please check your email and email me back.

I read that you're interested in collabs. Really digging on a few tunes of yours.
I write lyrics. Let me know if there's something I got you want to work with.
cc.

Hey Bud, I have been enjoying in your songs. Got some lyrics that might suit this style. If you should contemplate on a collaboration and if you are able to afford the time, I`d love to invite you to have a look at some of them and I`d look very forward to a possible collab in the case you find anything you could eventually use...
kind regards

Nope, 'Sing It Again' is unspoken for - if you're interested, I'd love to hear your take on it :)

Thanks for the comments on Donna's Lost To The Rain, wonderful lyrics by a very gifted writer, it was my pleasure to play about with them.

Hello - replied to your email! (Just saying, in case it gets caught in your spam folder again!)

Glad you liked it! It's not a woman doing the other vocal, it's me!

Comment by Blue Haint 1
oops. My bad.....

Thank you for your kind words on your tune! I will be checking up on some of yours soon!

Thanks for your comment on 'Ice So Blue'. It's not a real mic'd piano unfortunately, wish I had one though! I have to get by with software/sampled pianos. At least they're easy to record though :)

Hey, I really appreciate the kind words and that you took the time to listen to my song. I have no speakers at the moment but I will be sure to revisit your page.
Thanks again
Emma

Hello - yes, and liked it a lot! Did email back but maybe it got caught in your spam folder?

Thanks Bud. "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me" is exactly the song I was thinking of! Now I need to work up a happier one, like "I Only Want to Be with You."

Now I have another song I'm working on, from samhealer's lyrics, that might need a little guitar added. Let me know if you're interested.

Thanks for your comment on Can of Worms, it's always nice to know someone's listened to it - but to know you enjoyed it as well makes me very happy ;-)

Would be happy to collab, do you want to send something over by email and I'll see what I can do?

Comment by Blue Haint 1
Absolutely! Thanks, I'm working on something this afternoon.

Thanks so much for your comment on "Whisper to Mr. Holy", it was very appreciated!

Glad you liked Pico De Gallo girl.. A fun silly song to write. ;)

Thanks for all the fine comments for Summer Song. I love the Tele suggestion. I am a little embarrased to admit I had no idea what Nashville Tuning was. :{ I looked it up. I'll have to try that out. Would it not stress the neck though i wonder? Anyway, back to the production advice. Loads of great suggestions. In addition to what you're hearing, I would love to fade the song in, something like Bowie's Space Oddity.

thanks for the nice comments on my lyrics
ive been reading your posts on songwriters anon & i had this picture of you being some irish vagrant for some reason! i was realy surprised that your from southern usa... anyway i know what a haint is now i googled it ..i had thought it sounded irish & had decided it must mean a tramp! ive got a funny mind

Comment by Blue Haint 1
That's funny, Tina, I was in England back in 1988 and everybody thought I was Australian!

Rock on! I'd love to come to your house, only--it's a hundred degrees here and I'm dyin'. I can't imagine how human life survives in Alabama. But if you'll feed me...

I actually have some arrangement ideas for that song I would love to work on, but they're a little beyond my solo abilities.

Hi Blue

Thanks for your messages - I wish I could come to your house and get fed and watered but it's a wee bit far for me unfortunately. If it's okay with Rod then by all means cover it!

Thank you for your nice comment on Happy Birthday Dear Laura...

Thank you very much for your comment! It's really appreciated! Nice to hear that someone wants to listen to it more than once :)

Comment by Blue Haint 1
You are most welcome, Gonzo. Rock on and keep the tone nice and brown.

One of the nicest compliments I have had, did you sort out my timing issues : )

I never been caught and I never been tree'd.

Thanks for the comments on my songs! Sorry for the delayed response; last week got away from me. I'm happy to keep enchanting you. :)

Bud, enjoy your beer! Thanks for dropping by.

Comment by Blue Haint 1
Oh, don't worry....I will!

Okey-doke, thanks for the Daddy at the Gate update, Bud. Yes, I feel the extra verse ties things up nicely. (-:

Thanks for your comment on the Fire and the Flood. Sorry it's taken a while to reply but hopefully I'm going to get round to everyone!

Thank you so much for your comment on 'Upside-down'. This was a difficult write for me, but @segers41 gave this song just what it needed :)
