Just a few thoughts for our new friends. I wish you every joy this 5090. I know some of you will likely stress over number of songs you've written, quality of your demos, lack of your musical skills, etc. If you are like me, this will only increase when you start hearing some of the production that some of the 5090 stars put into their demos.

I am here to tell you to not let that bother you. Just write your songs your own way. This is a personal challenge but is supposed to be fun. Part of the fun is just being in such a creative place as this and having the muse wake you up in the middle of the night. Another part (and probably a bigger part) is interacting with others around here. The more you get involved in the forum and the occasional challenges, the more you will understand what this community is all about. You are already part of our family just by showing up. I encourage you to get to know us, and allow us the pleasure of getting to know you.

Post the song, Billy, I'm bust cooking supper for a bunch of folks I didn't expect, but they are obviously hungry for what I have on the stove....you did a good job. I have a different version, but funny enough, it is so close to yours that it is uncanny. Different, yet similar, tempo-wise.
That's cool. The words are carrying the message AND the music, however different the dialect!

Little update, I have a melody down. I am happy with it. My way is to simply sing it until it sounds right. It's seat of the pants style writing. But actually I believe the first one I come up with is generally the one most connected to the song. By now I am deeply loving your lyrics.

I finally got your messages, but I have purposely been "incommunicado" without a computer or cell phone for a while to spend time with my family. It has been refreshing to be away from technology and know that the world goes on without a hitch.

Hi, Billy - I'll touch base more in the coming weeks, but have had a tough time getting up and running due to a lot of changes going on right now. Thanks for the comment on "This House". It's about my former in-laws and their house. Pop really passed away right there in the driveway, just like that, amazing that the car didn't roll back into traffic. I've got work do to on that song yet, but am hoping I have a keeper. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to share it with Mom or not. I felt that I had to add the last verse to bring the mood back up, but like life, there are happy and heartbreaking moments. After she sold the house, she moved in with her daughter and son-in-law, where she is safe, comfortable and well-looked after. I'm looking forward to hearing more of your songs, too, always worth the listen, never quite knowing what I will find. (Like Forrest's box of choc-o-lates)

By the way, one thing that you already know, but I`d like to say it again: feel free to "work" with the lyrics, if necessary, which means you can exchange words/parts etc. as you think it would fit better concerning the music or whatever... Ah, yeah... nearly forgot to mention it... lol... I`m European and the Danube is our most famous and beautiful river, that`s why I have chosen it... If you prefer, you can exchange "Danube" for another one (Hudson river, Missouri???), of course... ;-)

I love this style, I`m a great fan of country music (as you may have also seen in my bio). So that`s 100% the music I`d love these lyrics to be put to.
