Another year. No plan to go for 50 this year, but will probably crank out a bunch of improvised basement recordings with the Catalytic Perverters (so like, 70 or 80).
I am in two bands.
40 Rod Lightning is my Insurgent North Country / Citybilly band
the Catalytic Perverters is my High Energy Rock trio

In less than a week, 50/90 will be halfway over. As I expected, most of my output has been improvised and quickly hashed out instrumentals with the Catalytic Perverters, and we are on track to do the 70 or 80 tracks I semi joked about above.
I think my usb interface for recording is dying a bit; it doesn't seem to work reliably on any but one of my operational computers. The current recording set up uses 4 mics into a small mackie mixer stereo out to a sony mindisc recorder. One mic each for guitar, bass, kick drum, and drums overhead. Drums are mixed to one channel, bass and guitar to the other channel. I capture the minidisc contents on my pc using audacity and split the stereo track to mono, adjusting volumes between them as necessary. If there are vocals, they are overdubbed. Sometimes live vocals bleed through the drum overhead mic, but not usually enough to be heard well or cause problems with overdubs (or without overdubs). It's not my ideal recording set up, but it is what I have that works easily and reliably enough for capturing our rehearsals and making rough demos out of them.
