2017. Not sure what or how much I will do this year. I've already "won" a few times, so I'm not bothered about reaching 50 or not.
If I actually produce any songs during this challenge, permission is granted to play my music on radio and podcasts.
Comment/critique my songs as you will; honest, harsh, indifferent, not at all. I will de-zong my own with an insightful "First!"
THE BLAH BLAH BLAH
After several years of doing these challenges, I began to get burnt out and couldn't find any point to it that I hadn't dulled and resharpened a few times. I wrote some songs that I liked (a lot of them), but most were in genres that didn't fit my band (40 Rod Lightning) and even if they were appropriate, there were more than I could reliably get the band to learn and play. I considered starting a second band to play some of the rock and punk songs (eventually forming the Catalytic Perverters in 2016), but there would still be a good collection of songs that would never go further than the original demo.
Near the end of 2014, I decided that my 2015 New Year's resolution would be to post one song each day on my youtube channel. I figured I had enough songs to post one a day for about a year and a half. I started using old films and videos that are in the public domain. Sometimes I work to sync video themes with the song, other times I just put the song over some incongruous video footage. Sometimes it is live performance video.
I did well in keeping the resolution until May 30th, 2015, when I failed to post a video and then quit the project. This year (2017). I decided to take up the challenge again and began posting a video of a song each day since May 30th. I still have a backlog of older songs to post, but I may post videos of whatever new songs I do this 50/90, as they come into existence.
