--edited June 2018--
Hard to believe it's that time of year again for 50/90 again - I've been doing it since 2008, and FAWM since 2006
I seem to say every year that I "probably won't be quite as active this year as past years", while last year (2017) I did reach 50, I very much doubt I will this year.
I may do very little, I guess we'll see. As of this writing (early June 2018) I'm not 'feelin' it'... but, I guess we'll see.
the 'bio' stuff:
New York City-based singer/songwriter. I have written and recorded several albums, available on iTunes, Amazon, Bandcamp, etc etc..
Plays acoustic and electric guitar, mandolin, dobro (resonator guitar), harmonica, bass, and sings. Regular contributor to radio stations with topical, sometimes political, material, but write many other things too. More details, etc, on website listed. or just google ' mike skliar' and you'll figure it out.
Recordings of note:
on iTunes, Amazon
"Mike Skliar" (2005)
"Ship of State"- (2009)
"February Singing (2012)
"My Kingdom for a Song (2013)
"Singing the Obvious to the Oblivious" (2014)
"Summer of Ice" (2014- all songs written at 2014's 50/90)
"You're fine, how am I?" (2015)
"How low can we go?" (Feb-March 2016)
"Need you in November" (September 2016)
"Love trumps hate" (November 2016)
"Chill on Chill (all instrumental) (November 2016)
"This is what democracy sounds like" (March 2017)
'Summer of the orange disaster' (sept 2017)
and the most recent two:
'Whatever magic" (Nov 2017)
"Where do we go from here" (March 2018)
Yes, that's alot of albums in the last year or two- some of it political-generated, some not
Of the recent ones, 'Whatever Magic" (link above) is compeltely non-political (for those who don't want any of that)
while "Where do we go from here" has a mix of things.
There's also, for those who don't want vocals, one that is all instrumental, mostly electronica based material ("Chill on Chill")
Starting in 2015 I was part of a new collaboration with an old friend of mine, as well....a kind of fusion of spoken word, poetry, stories, and music, using the title "Seth & Skliar" we have one album already done and released on Bandcamp called "the bards of gridlock" . and a second one almost done.... perhaps we will have a few new things here too. Our first album can be found at :

UPDATE- end of July--- if you're read the forum and saw my post, or saw the liner notes to 'song of life together' you might have heard bout some recent health issues- all is ok tho, and i'm on the mend! has thrown a bit of a monkey wrench into things, songwritingwise, but .. have been able to post a few things, which is good. we'll see how much (hopefully all!) of the voice' comes back'....
