Hello everyone!
My name is Katrina Trujillo-Lucero. I am a composer, singer, songwriter and musician. I graduated in 2011 with my Bachelor’s of Arts in Contemporary Music Magna Cum Laude from the Santa Fe University of Art and Design. I began college without knowing how to read music. It was quite a struggle for me, but I took my studies seriously and eventually became a music theory and musicianship tutor for other students in my class. For my final project, I scored out my works and conducted.
I mainly sing and play guitar, however, music has always come natural to me and is my life. I began playing the piano when I was seven years old, and then moved onto the guitar at eleven years of age. In high school, I developed singing/songwriting skills. In college, I learned how to read, compose and record music. My hope is to incorporate all of my talent and skills into a full-time singing/songwriting and music composing career.
In 2006, I wrote my first single "Can I Keep You Forever". I performed this single for the first time at The Lensic Performing Arts Center, and I received my first standing ovation and much recognition for my songwriting skills. I recently completed my third album “Cubes in My Milk” which I recorded, mixed and mastered on my own in a recording studio that I set up myself.
I have performed at many local events, including the Santa Fe Bandstand, the Albuquerque Old Town Plaza, The Albuquerque Mariachi Spectacular as well as at many open mic nights, graduation ceremonies, churches, fiestas, talent shows, family events, homeless shelters and nursing homes. I enjoy performing and everything that involves music.
Artists that have influenced me include: Stevie Nicks, Enya, Norah Jones, Kaki King,Joseph Loduca, Chopin, Eric Satie, Jennifer Batten, James Horner, Joseph Loduca, Steve Reich and Madonna.
