I'm a teacher, multi-instrumentalist, and songwriter in Logan, Utah. I teach beginning orchestral strings now, but trained as a middle school band and high school orchestra teacher, and taught guitar and choir at the high school level. Music teachers rock! Besides guitars and voice, I'll likely add violin, viola, cello, bass, mandolin, recorder, flute, clarinet, trombone, and trumpet to my demos.
I multitrack acoustic instruments with one decent condenser mic and LogicPro, but as usual, my summer travel plans will prevent full demos during certain weeks of 50/90. I will be posting some simple song demos, with mandolin, when I'm away from home. This year I'll be at the High Sierra Music Festival in California when 50/90 begins.
This is my seventh 50/90. I've only hit 50 once so far.
If you're really interested in my influences you can look up what I've been listening to on my last.fm user site:
Best of luck to all, and happy listening!
EDIT 7/25 --- Well, so far so good. Despite my slow start I was able to get four of my own done, and then another four with a friend of mine. Plus a couple forum games that'll show up when they're ready. I've got a lot to do in the few days before I leave for back to back trips--- first Wisconsin and the Chicago area, then the Oregon coast. I hope to write songs on these trips and post them in late August when I get home. I really wish I could more listening in this summer, but best is best.
EDIT 8/28 --- So not too bad of a 50/90 at this point, but it's highly unlikely I'll reach for 50. I had to turn in my viola, cello, and bass because we are checking out instruments for the new school year, but I've got a playable snare-drum with brushes I can use from here out if I want. I'm loosely basing my original songs off these sixteen reasons why people give up:
I've written 7 out of 16 so far. I may or may not stick with that plan. There are also some collabs and other games still in the works so who knows... I hope to get back to commenting as well, at least for a 2:1 given to received ratio. There's lots of September left!
EDIT 9/21 --- I'll hit the halfway point (25) easy enough and will probably finish with a double FAWM (28) --- teaching beginner orchestra classes always takes more time than I expect it will due to logistics and planning. Wish I had just a few more hours in the day.
