Night Lights

Feast/Skirmish

Liner Notes:

Warning: I'm whistling in the break of this song.

Edit: I read this as "Night Life", not "Night Light" ... but the song works fine either way ... just pretend I sing "light" instead of "life" ;)

I've been wanting to make up a couple of jazz chord progressions that I can feel like are "mine", whatever that means. I spent most of the one-hour skirmish figuring out the progression and getting to where I could kind-of play it three times in a row without any huge boners (mistakes) ... The lyric is kind of what I had in my head from thje start, I s'pose it's reminiscent of "fly me to the moon" :-)

I missed the skirmish proper a few hours ago, but made sure to allow myself only one hour from the moment I peeked at the title to when I switched off the microphone ....

Edit: wow, I noticed the voice was WAY over the guitar, so I did another quick mix with the guitar up and voice down ...

Lyrics:

I like the night life Baby, I was hoping that maybe,
you might meet me on the top of the moon
We'll fly around Venus and fly around Mars
And we'll plan a vacation on Jupiter's Big Red Spot , real soon

I love the old-fashioned sound. Great fun to listen to your song, singing and whistling accompanied by guitar Smile The lyric and the music go so well together! Brilliant work! It could be in a movie - I can picture two people walking and singing and whistling.

Nice write, part-pilfered or not. Smile Fine jazz. Slightly 'Fly Me to the Moon'-ish, but not overmuch. Smile

Fantastic! That's superb! Great chord sequence and melody, great lyrics and vocals. Great whistling too - I can't whistle to save my life (though my 9-yr old daughter is an excellent whistler, so that's something).

Wonderful progression and sound. I really enjoy the jazzy progression, and the whistling melody line. The lyrics are fantastically irreverent and sweet. Has a great feel to it. Nicely done.

They don't write 'em like this anymore. The old fashioned sound with just that splash of contemporary sound. I'm glad you posted it, even if it was outside of the skirmish proper timeframe. I can't make it to most of them but find them interesting, anyway. Nice job.

I like the lyric, the accompaniment.. both fit so well together. And the little bend was a nice touch around 1:00. Nicely done.
