Thanks to Arthur for letting me do a collab on this number. I chose this song because it sounds like one I might have written myself - but better! I've tweaked the lyrics a bit, see http://paulmilne.wordpress.com/2011/08/17/a-better-man-than-me/ for my lyrics, which are very slightly different than Arthur's (the ones on this page).
A BETTER MAN THAN ME
The more I think, the more things do worsen,
perhaps you were not meant to get my wife,
guess I was not the right person
you needed to complete your life…
Was not sensitive, never inventive,
have not realized your love`s to adore,
I have never been attentive
and you have deserved so much more…
(Chorus)
And now, what to wish you at the end…?
maybe just: may he be someone much wiser who will understand,
let him be
so different from me…
If you ever fall in love again,
let him be someone who`ll always love you as much as he can...
let him be
a better man than me…
…a better man than me…
Even my humour was not devastating,
with strange girls I spent days `n` nights in bars
and this all while you`d been waiting
for me home, faithful as you are…
Guess I was not capable to show you
how much I loved you, things that layed beneath…
at least I`m happy I`ve known you
despite the faults I can`t retrieve…
(Chorus)
And now, what to wish you at the end…?
maybe just: may he be someone much wiser who will understand,
let him be
so different from me…
If you ever fall in love again,
let him be someone who`ll always love you as much as he can...
let him be
a better man than me…
…a better man than me…
If you ever fall in love again,
let him be someone who will kiss you not only now and then...
no doubt, he`ll be
a better man than me…
…a much, much better man than me…

Awesome job here guys! Great representation of the lyrics
Well performed! It's a sad song, a beautiful sad song.
Hi Paul & Arthur
Thank you for letting me know you uploaded this song. I like it very much. I don't know whether you see this as a compliment, Paul, but with a slightly different arrangement I could hear a Neil Young song in it.
This beautiful collab reminds me that I might need a native speaker to rewrite in correct english the songs "sunshine after rain", "pictures in black and white" and "point of no return". Please Arthur, don't take offence, I love your lyrics, and since I'm no native speaker, I didn't realize at first that you were no native speaker too. So if you don't mind, maybe Paul wants to help us out?
Please?
I've got several ideas for above three Arthur Rossi songs, but haven't recorded the final versions yet. I'm quite demanding to myself, and so of others too I'm afraid.
So if you Arthur don't mind waiting a bit longer, and if you Paul, wouldn't mind collaborating to rewrite above-mentioned lyrics, I would be very happy! If it's not okay, just tell me. Thank you all anyway.

Very nice. The chorus is sweet and sad. I like the upward movement under "ever"--it seems to underline the emotion somehow.
This is a sad one, but a good interpretation of the lyrics. Fine guitar/vocal treatment. A lot of "pleading" in that voice. Good collab!
Arthur, here is my slightly tweaked version of your lyrics: http://paulmilne.wordpress.com/2011/08/17/a-better-man-than-me/ Hope you think they are ok!
I can't believe no one busted this zong! Mind if I have a crack at setting this to some music, Arthur?
