Daddy's Little Girl

Collaborators:
Liner Notes:

This started out from the song improv game my sister made as a bothered r'n'b ballad about "Bread or blood" and had the classic line "I can't spread my butter on pig's blood." Charles was keen to keep this in the song, but I over-ruled him. Despite that one lapse of judgement (in my opinion), collaborating with Charles was awesome. Incredibly talented chap.

This song is not true to my life. As with most people, I have my problems with my father, but these ain't them.

Helen was in town at @Mike Skliar's place for a FAWM / 5090 get-together, and when almost everyone else had gone this was what came to us, and by us I mean her. She's a great, efficient (quite a skill, especially for FAWM/5090) lyricist and a very talented singer. I won't use the word chap, but she was great to work with and I'm hoping she'll be back to the states soon. - Charles

Lyrics:

Another night, another argument
Another chance for you to prove
How inferior I am to you
Do I mean so little to you?

Another wasted day, another wasted year
Am I just a waste of space to you?
And I can't be who you want me to
No matter how loud you're shouting

I never wanted to be daddy's little girl
That was your plan for me
Always thought I'd be my own person
And that's what I'm going to be
Just wait and see

Pack my things, pack up my life
Pack my memories into a bag
Head out onto the open road
Head home wherever that is

The guitar on this is gorgeous. Great work Charles. The lyrics along with the guitar and melody make this stand out as a truly powerful song.

This is a great collaboration, you two. The guitars - lovely lovely - The singing - and the lyrics - sweet and touching, my girl! Beautiful feel and melody

Awesome collaboration. Really beautiful chords and melody, and the lyrics work with them well and ring true if not autobiographical. The guitar playing is fabulous ... going to check out more by Charles for sure.

I love that guitar and melody. Wonderful together.
I'm glad you decided not to use my.. erm pig's blood. It's kinda against my nature.
And that chorus is killer. Yeah, good stuff for sure. Definitely a keeper. I mean, it's hard to compare to an Alien love triangle, but you done good.
