Liner Notes:

Just looking through the latest songs and saw Arthur Rossi's entry "Your Song (Needs Music)" and thought, what a great line. After reading I realised that (Needs Music) was a tag request and not part of the title so I have stolen it :D Thanks Arthur. AND yes, this one needed music too but Calum has more than fulfilled that part of it. love the treatment he has given it, sounds like a 50's TV show.
----
Calum sez: This one needs music no more! (or at least i have done some music)
Hope you all enjoy it! I sort of moved some of the words around, hope that's okay.
I would have loved to totally overcamp this one and have a speaking section and some really high oohs but i reined myself back. Sometimes less is more, you know?

Lyrics:

Your song needs music
Your song needs words
Your story needs telling
Your voice should be heard

It doesn’t matter
Who you are
It doesn’t matter
Where you’re from
All that matters is you stand up proud
And give the world your song

There’s 6 billion stories
There’s 6 billion dreams
And 6 billion listeners
With 12 billion ears

It doesn’t matter
If you are young
It doesn’t matter
If you are old
Because the saddest story ever is
The story never told

Your song needs music
Your song needs words
Your story needs telling
Your voice should be heard

this is great! Spot on harmonies.. but yes.. it does need music. Acapella greatness though.. Really enjoyed this one.. sounds barbershop... You are very talented.

Nice! I love the secondary dominant chords in the bridge! Perfect vibe to match the lyrics. Should be sung by a university a cappella group!

This is wonderfulness! The world is a better place for the existence of this song.

Brilliantly done by all three involved - I'd like to buy you all a beer. The check's in the mail.

Two fantastic songwriters!!! Great collaboration guys!!! I loved the lyric first time I read them and I'm so glad Calum created his fantastic music and singing to Peter's fantastic lyrics! I'm going to listen again now, it lifts my mood. Thank you guys!!!

Thank you, Calum, for letting me know that the demo is up! I have already been commenting on the great lyrics, cool a capella concept, very nicely done! Great vocal and though there was no instrument I did not miss it even for a moment, I had the impression there were several ones playing all the time!

@Calum - this is AWESOME!!!!!!! I would love to be a fly-on-the-wall as you conceived/recorded this. Amazing.

@blindkiwi: that's hilarious, that you took a misread title like this. The lyrics you've created from it a great.

this is a great set of lyrics. i know i'm already overloaded with collab promises, but i would love to record a quick demo for this, i have an idea it would just be quite simple, unaccompanied singing (but quite upbeat). Let me know (or just add me as collaborator) if you'd like me to do this. I think this is a great title and concept. Smile

Fantastic lyric, I'm surprised no one offered to create music. Your lyric is very positive, uplifting and catchy. Hope you'll find a good composer to work with on the song or may be you are creating your song right now? Looking forward to hearing the demo Smile

hahaha... very original idea! Thanks for letting me know! I like what you have done with it, I was not aware of this way to understand it when posting it... lol... Fun lyrics, but also with some deep truths and very nice lines like:
"Because the saddest story ever is
The story never told".
Very, very nice!

Ha, ha -- that's a great take on a "misread" title! I think you have a pretty good one here. Uplifting and positive -- the world needs more of that! Good one.
