Liner Notes:

Saw these lyrics by McTown a fair while ago and said when i was home i would have a go if they were still there. He reminded me the other day about that! I thought they would be gone for sure! Sure, sugar like you is hard to taste was just such a good line. As per McTown's notes I thought Smashing Pumpkins but i don't have the voice for that but i looked at their progressions and this was a bit like them. I did this first time faster but decided it was better for phrasing slowed down! Time permitting I might have gone for a solo in the middle but this already took a lot of time.

Lyrics:

You’re somewhere being someone
Doing something like everyone
And I got my phone and my headgear on
Plugged into a world of flesh and bone
Your celebrity is guaranteed
Cause you like to flash what we see
You throw obsessions out on your wall
And I.M. the world as it falls

Sure, sugar like you is hard to taste
But your tender lips are easy to make
You’re a cartoon, a serious star
Karaoke Monday at your favorite bar
Your bathroom backdrop’s a cool place
Sure, sugar like you is hard to taste

You’re pixels being pixies
Doing magic like everyone
And I stay in nights and skip the sun
Screens and me, my fire and fun
You’re solitary and speak in memes
And want to be all that we dream
You throw opinions out from Neverland
And your youtube has legions of fans

Chorus
Sure, sugar like you is hard to taste
But your tender lips are easy to make
You’re a cartoon, a serious star
Karaoke Monday at your favorite bar
Your bathroom backdrop’s a cool place
Sure, sugar like you is hard to taste

No one knows your age.. but puberty has come to play
Or maybe even that is another new game

chorus
Sure, sugar like you is hard to taste
But your tender lips are easy to make
You’re a cartoon, a serious star
Karaoke Monday at your favorite bar
Your bathroom backdrop’s a cool place
Sure, sugar like you is hard to taste

The shimmering jangle of the guitar definitely evokes that 90s alt rock scene. I like the build into the chorus. Great take on these lyrics for sure

if you put a heavy speed metal track behind your medium tempo vocals, you could have a hardcore classic with this,

I knew when I first saw David's lyric that this be open to many interpretations, and this one certainly does the words justice in this style. There's an ominous growl of vocal that talks of the split feelings (and regrets) of the tempations of the sweet seductress, Great job both of you!

I can't listen right now, but that lyric is so good, the kind you want to say out loud. Somewhere being someone...etc., it all sounds and feels so good on the tongue--and it means something, too, which is a bonus. I'll be back to listen when I can Smile

Got that Dylan bite to the vocal... good job on it. Thanks for working on it too. David

Love love love these lyrics. Has a bit of a Tom Waits feel with an 80's dreampop vibe. Really compelling and engaging.

Love the guitar - not something I say often. The vocals are cool - a bit of @headfirstonly mysterioso vibe. Way cool! Lyrics vlew my mind when i first read them. Talented @McTown!

Like the intensity! Parred with the message of the lyrics.

I just listened to a song about coffee and couldn't resist this title. Those guitars sound great right from the start. I read through the lyric and I, too, like it very much. The vocal delivery is a bit dark and gruff and I like how it works with the lyric.

The McTown lyrics are awesome as always! And you gave it a cool grunge/alternative vibe, I really dig that.
