Liner Notes:

Here’s the final lyric in the Lyrics Morph 2 challenge that originated with my seed lyric 'Turned the Tables'. When I read the selection of fine morphs by @Amanda Rose Riley (‘Burned Like This’), @tsunamidaily (‘By the Book’), @kahlo (‘Authentic Love’), and @AndreaB (‘Madam to the Stars’), I wasn’t sure where to begin with my own.

Then, being naughty, the Muse nudged me down the burlesque/music-hall path, a basically forgotten genre I’ve always loved, and that was especially popular in the UK at one time.

Hope y’all can envisage it. Smile

(Sorry about any mixed metaphors, my fellow morphers. And I fear I took up more than 50% of the space, but each morph was fodder. It was a blast to see each creative version emerge. Wink )

Lyrics:

Colour Outside the Lines

Intro
In this little black book
The pages are gold
Every leaf a tale to be told

V1
I’ve had a famous painter
Who thought his strokes were best
But learned he wasn’t up to scratch
When I put him to the test

V2
And here’s a politician
Tried laying down the law
Then watched me break a rule or two
Not believing what he saw

Pre-chorus
The book is a primer created by me
Meant as a hook for your fantasy

Chorus
Colour outside the lines
Turn the tables, learn to disable
A man’s way of thinking
Leave him blinking
Colour outside the lines

V3
I have a lauded writer
Quite sure he’d set the tone
But quickly I re-wrote the plot
Made the dialogue my own

Pre-chorus
The book is a primer created by me
Meant as a hook for your fantasy

Chorus
Colour outside the lines
Turn the tables, learn to disable
A man’s way of thinking
Leave him blinking

Bridge
Men are often short on love
Making us feel
We’re not enough
We need to go by the book
Not a random script
Any fool can flip

Chorus
Colour outside the lines
Turn the tables, learn to disable
A man’s way of thinking
Leave him blinking
Colour outside the lines

Outro
To forge the artful beauty
Of authentic love
Keep a man yearning
Burning till the metal’s annealed
Use your lips, your hands, your eyes
And for the rest…
Well, my own lips are sealed

Love the lyrics and the concept. A lot of truth in these.

I don't know how you wrote something this good so fast. It is a fun, inventive, well written story. I see pieces of the original (nice use for the original title) and each morph. Great Seed and final morph lyrics Donna!
